It's that time of year, again, folks..

And with over 90 entries vying for the title, it's going to be one helluva fight. Okay, so maybe some of those 90 entries represent different trim levels for the same car, as manufacturers enter some of their models in both the basic/economy category and the luxury/premium categories in their classes, but the sheer number of entries in this year's competition shows tremendous manufacturer support. Some cars have even been rushed into sale just to meet the CAGI deadline (most notably the new Focus TDCi and the Hyundai i30).

Instead of watching from the sidelines this year, we're in the thick of it. I'll be posting updates on the competition on the boards until the awarding in November.

CAGI, which runs the P-COTY, is an association made up of writers and testers from various print, TV and internet publications. The wide variety of interests and viewpoints helps ensure fair and even-handed voting. We're doing this for you, guys, so we'll be needing your support.

Personally, between you and me, the new Mitsubishi Lancer is fan-tas-tic. If I had to put money on a possible winner this year, this one might be it.
