Depends also on what year model of the Patrol you're looking at. If this is the 2001-2003/2004 model (pre-facelift), you're better off with the Pajero as this first release of the Patrol 3.0 had quite a number of issues with the engine. These have been fixed on the later models (our 2005/06 4x4 has been quite a reliable one).

    FC: Quits lang
    Performance: Patrol
    Maintenance Cost: Pajero
    Parts Prices: Pajero
FC: Pajero has better FC AFAIK

What will i get given both are in the same, good conditions? Patrol.

If you're considering the 01-02 Patrol. Go for the Pajero as this will give you less headaches. Otep can attest to the problems he encountered with the 01-02 versions.

Defect. Later engines were improved and design changes were made.

Yes. My Tylenol intake has increased dramatically when I crossed over from 96 Pajero to 01 Patrol. Now my daily driver is a 94 Toyota. Hehe.

Interior of the Patrol is snug considering the size. The fronts are ok but the Pajero has better 2nd row accomodations.

Yes, design flaws really. Its not isolated to ZD30s in our market as this was encountered also in other markets back then.

I'd suggest you get the Pajero as well. Aside from the aforementioned engine problems with early model Patrol, it is also pretty hard to maneuver in tight streets and mall parking. The Pajero's size would be more reasonable, not to mention that as already mentioned, the Patrol doesn't have much interior room despite the huge girth which somewhat defeats the reason of getting such a big car.

The Pajero uses an old school diesel, lesser electronics to get headaches about. If you want more performance out of it, you can do the turbo washer trick many Pajero owner Tsikoteers have been doing and there are many other performance parts available as well.

The Pajero is cursed with a poor turning radius so parking in tight streets requires several maneuvers just as well.

Pansinin mo lang before kung ilang Pajero ay may gasgas sa mga bumper ends niya (front and back). :D

so the patrols with ZD30 engines are the ones with this particular design flaws? i liked the brute stance of the patrol, but i guess its stance alone is not worth the extra headache and worry that i'll have if ever i choose to buy one.

looks like pajero fieldmaster is the popular choice among car enthusiasts, what is its FC figures? city and highway driving. thanks guys!

    What Patrol? Safari Y60 GQ?

If that's the model you're refering to, pound for pound, Patrol ako over the Pajero.

Ah ... sorry, no idea on the newer Y61. The former TD42 of the Patrol Safari was a bullet proof engine, Nissan should've brought in the Y61 variant equipped with a TD42 though.
