July 19th, 2011 09:50 PM #1Good day mga gurus. My friend is buying his first car from his hard earned money. Budget is around 800k++. Bank Financing option nya.
For a while he is set on buying a brand new Adventure GLS sport for 800k+. But last week upon knowing na pwede nyan din pala ipasok sa financing yung 2nd hand na 99 pajero fieldmaster for 600k++ nag karoon na siya ng 2nd option.
The car will be mainly use as his daily driver,Manila- ortigas route and occasionally out of towns sa weekend. We are pursuing him to get the Fieldmaster just because the name "Pajero" says it all. But he just kept on saying na gusto niya ng brand new para naman less hassle sa cost ng maintenance sa part nya.
Mga gurus ano po mga opinions nyo? Salamat.

July 20th, 2011 12:20 AM #2Medyo luma na ang 1999 Pajero, siguro makahanap kayo ng mas bago? Kung sa dalawang models na to without taking into consideration the actual condition of the Pajero, I'd take the Pajero. The class, size, looks, better engine and offroad performance is worth it. But then, Pajero maintenance will be a bit more expensive, fuel mileage is also not as good. I'd suggest you explore other options as well. 800k will find you a very decent 2nd hand car and it doesn't necessarily have to be a Pajero.

"We are pursuing him to get the Fieldmaster just because the name "Pajero" says it all".. I don't get this.. We had 2 field masters and we never brag about it... We even have cars that are more luxurious than the Pajero but we never brag it....
IMHO, if you're purpose for getting the Pajero, is WOW naka Pajero .... then think again... You should also need to consider maintenance.... The Pajero is more expensive to maintain than the Adventure.. Example sa gulong na lang.. definitely, mas mahal ang isang tires ng Pajero over the Adventure... FC ng Pajero mataas din, so I guess mas matipid sa diesel ang adventure vs Pajero. If you're friend can accommodate the additional expenses then go... Pero kung sa monthly palang nya, eh medyo mag adjust sila sa budget ng family, then its more economical to get the brand-new one kahit adventure lang.. at least may 3 years warranty ka pa...
I have a some friends, na pinilit mag SUV, kaso pagdating sa maintenance, sobrang tipid... d na nasusunod yung regular schedule, kasi daw mahal ng piyesa...

July 25th, 2011 02:47 PM #6kung thru financing ang purchase, dun na ko sa brand new adventure. unless kaya ng friend mo ang monthly amort. + PMS + monthly repairs ng 2nd hand, 12yo pajero. pero kung pipilitin yung pajero, i'd personally go for a patrol safari instead :D

Much better yung kampante ka na kayang-kaya mo maintenance and cost or the ammortization.
Sa out of town trips mas masisiyahan ka sa Paj vs an Advie.Fasten your seatbelt! Or else... Driven To Thrill!
