civic din. pero just if you choose the toyota it wouldn't be a mistake either as it is also a very good car yung nga lang all things considering parang mas value driven choice yung honda.

last month may nakita ako na bagong altis na "taxi". nagulat ako kc kala ko di na pwedeng gawin taxi ang bagong altis? anyway what i like toyota altis is budget friendly sa maintainance.. unlike civic medyo mataas ang maintainance, kung porma mas lamang lang ang civic kasya sa altis. sa performance at durability namn i think mas lamang ang altis sa civic.kung sa FC naman sa tingin ko halos di nagkakalayo yung dalawa. but if ur a person nabilis magpalit ng auto, go for the civic kasi mataas resale value ng civic compared sa altis. may choice ill go for ALTIS for practical reason..di kasi ganun kalaki kinikita ko e hehe..

for practicality, i would go with the Altis 1.6 since it's much cheaper to maintain plus the reliability of it being made into taxis. in the long run, spare parts are easier and cheaper to acquire.

In the 3 years or so that the civic's been out, wala pa namang game-breaking 'bugs' yung civic.

My main gripe with the altis is that it gained roughly 150kg and is still powered by the same engine that powered the last gen.

Hate the civic seats, kaya pagawa agad ng leatherette seat covers sa labas.

Used to have both (the Altis drowned during Ondoy)
The altis is a great everyday car. Great interior space but kinda lacking in rear grip and lacks the rear brake disk. Its trunk space is Huge! Ride is just so so, don't really like its rear suspension. Its engine is comfy at low revs

The Civic is fun to drive. I love it's adjustable seat height, kinda cramped engine bay though. Less trunk space, has lots of rear grip that will allow you to attack corners with confidence. great rear suspension and huge front brakes and has rear disk brakes. Power goes in at high RPM. It has 5 speed automatic tranny compared to the 4 speed of the altis. Just enough aircon, not as cool as the Altis.

    FC
    Altis 8-9 km/l
    Civic 7-8.5 km/l

ZZ for everyday use/practicality, FC, ride comfort and gadgets hehehe (tama ba?)

FD for angas looks, adventurous ride, and "performance" accesories

ang kaso lang, tama si sir mda, zz got heavier but still powered by the same engine as to my 04 ZZ, the 3zz engine is just right for the previous gen of the zz, but not for the present gen. imho. the 2.0 engine might be right one for it.

but clearly, 3zz engines are very "iwas gastos-problema" . proper maitenance lang, ok na. my 5yr old zz still kicks 185kph, di ko lang sure kung todo na yun kase di pa todo tapak ko. takot na eh. btw, mods are very minor. for sure FD are more faster and powerful cause its a bigger engine.

All of which I think the RAV4 lacks. So the RAV4 feels for me to be just a reliable SUV that will get me there, but will not be as fun to drive.

What I'm thinking right now is maybe get the RAV4, save some money, and in 2-3 years time baka may new gen of Civic / Focus / Altis na with better features, so I can sell the RAV4 and buy from there. Sensya na mga sir magulo ba
I'd go with the rest and advice you to get that Rav4 instead of the 2.0V Altis. I find the additional features of the Altis like the push-start button just some novelty that'll wear out once you get used to driving it.

If you trust your aunt and if she takes care of the car naman, go ahead and get it. No warranty means more expenses but you escape the casa. Use the money saved for problems that will arise in the future. You can also use the savings to trick it out. The Rav4 is really the better car in this comparison. Goodluck with your decision!

ausie 2010 civic will get a full length airbags and vsa as standard on all models

kasi last year yung base model front and side airbags lang..
tigas lang talaga ng seats lalo na yung sa may elbow/sholder side sa rear seat..parang kahoy na tinakpan lang ng seatcover....

in this thread, majority are claiming that civic maintenance is expensive. could we have a detailed comparison on maintenance expense for these two cars?

The civic has a slightly higher maintenance all in all but very small difference lang. Toyota has a better customer service than Honda but honda is usually near a mall so it's easier to pass time while waiting for it to be tuned up.

Salamat po sa mga inputs at natapos narin po ang deliberation and its quite amazing coz' we ended up buying a city instead of the two kasi ang naging deal is that the money we save from buying the two eh bibigay nalang daw po nila sakin so mga 200k po ata un though it is not cash but paunti unti ay ganun din po ang kakahantungan so I plan to buy either an EF Hatch or CRX (may nakita na po ako at 150K with D15b in it (my friend referred me to it since kakilala nya ung seller na mechanic) kahit luma pumayag sila

We really like the Civic though but I guess we made a right decision since si mama po kasi minsan din ang magdri-drive so mas maliit ang dala nya saka po may extra pa ako

    congrats!

at least may savings ka na roughly 200k that you can use to buy an EF Hatch or CRX at happy ang buong family.

I know a Toyota that is really really close to a mall. Balintawak North katabi lang ng SM North EDSA...

As for customer service its a roll of a dice...

I just cant believe that people nowadays are still stuck in the notion that toyotas are cheaper to maintain than hondas. I've owned an altis and parts are not that common anymore compared to the lovelife model (and below). The price, even of replacement parts are expensive.

People need to wake up. Korean manufacturers are even becoming better than these two automotive giants.

Doesn't Honda ever give discounts? I just spoke with an agent at Honda and she told me that it was never Honda's practice to give discount.

This is our first time to consider buying a brand new Honda as we have always been loyal to Toyota.
