Sir IDLV...sa Cagayan de Oro po pinang-taxi lang latest model na Altis E.di naman ginagawang taxi ang altis na bago ah.
So if you are image-concious, Civic is probably it.
yep, last Wednesday, coding ako, kaya taxi lang me to and fro the office..
on my way to the office, i was lucky enough to ride an 08 Altis E as well.. nice ng loob, but for the tag price, medio mahal cia for my budget, kaya i bought an 08 Sentra last August as my bday gift to myself![]()
as someone who has scouted these 3 compact sedans, Altis, Sentra and Civic, I would say go for the Civic still.
If you can afford to maintain a Civic from the 90's til present, the 08 Civic should not be a problem for you. Nice looks, good interior legroom, wide range of aftermarket goodies and nice re-sale value.
I wish could've afforded it, but I'm a Nissan lover since the 1990 as well.
Plus the price, including the ever reliable A/C is way too good...
just my two cents..
Civic! Better engine, good power-to-weight ration which also transelates to reasonably good fuel economy. 5 Speed A/T. Di ka magmumukang tatay more importantly![]()
Since you are after the performance and FC, then go for the Altis. Tested naman na performance ng mga corollas. I read on the newspaper recently that AAP tested the FC of the Corollas. Based on the testings made by AAP, the corolla 1.6 G's FC is 19 km/liter. Siguro that's already way beyond what the civic can do. Mas guwapo pa itsura nung bagong corolla kesa sa civic.
I have a friend who regretted trading his Civic for an Altis. Di daw fun to drive unlike the Civic. I suggest i-test drive mo to "feel" the difference. Mas tahimik ang Altis and mas luxurious compared sa Civic, pero performance wise it's Civic hands down.
if your dad will give you a car and let you choose between the 2008 civic and 2008 altis, which will you choose?...
"kung ano ang nasa puso mo! sundin mo!"... hehehe...![]()
I'd rather get an Altis because of cheaper maintenance but if you can afford higher cost of maintenance then go for a civic. Civic is a great car. I'd just like to suggest to wait the all New Mazda 3. Looks good in the pictures. Hopefully it will look good also in specs.
^^That is the biggest myth around. Altis cheaper to maintain than a Civic. It just never dies.
Yes wrong in saying that Altis is cheaper to maintain than Civic where in reality they are just the same in terms of cost of maintaining. In the 90's it was true but now hindi na.
If I were you, I'd go for the Civic,- a fun to drive car. Altis is too spartan for my taste.
Suggest you test drive them and follow your instincts.....

My highschool best bud just bought himself a new Civic 1.8S 2 days ago.. after trading his older 2002 Civic. It was way too cool! he had me test drive it at SCTEX and it was really a fun drive car!
Altis is still the quietest ride i've experienced, pero mas plus for me yung fun factor of the Civic e!![]()
Even if the replacement parts of the Civic costs and arm an leg after the warranty period (main reason he traded his old car kahit maganda pa).. it's still my choice..
Basta tandaan lang natin na ang CASA, be it honda, toyota or any other, will milk you of your money during PMS.
Dito kasi sila bumabawi sa kita.
Honda and Toyota PMS costs are roughly the same, give and take a couple of hundred pesos.
Kung may sirang parts, expensive talaga yan since its going to be an original part plus labor pa ng CASA.
Anyone who is going to purchase a new car should always keep these things in mind.
For me, be it honda / toyota, both are good cars.
Also the FC numbers that they put up in publication is not accurate. It all comes down to your driving habits. Me and my friend have the same car, and I have high FC compared to his because of our different driving habits.
uote=Kentanaka;1136039]Guys, which do you think is the best in terms of performance and FC. why?
I really like the Civic but I'm now having doubts when I saw the new Altis... Nasisira lang image ng Altis kapag ginagawang taxi... Please help.
By the way, I've been a Civic owner since the 90s. So I almost had all the Civic generations... So far, I'm satisfied with this type of car.
Thanks[/quote]

The Corolla has the Civic beat hands down when it comes to the features list. Toyota has simply taken the long list of features available in the Camry and dumped most of it into the Corolla Altis. But not all variants as are packed as the top-of-the-line 'V' variant we were driving. In this variant you have cruise control, audio controls on the steering wheel, a multi information display and electronically controlled seat adjuster. The driver side seat has electronically adjustable lumbar support, convenience lights that light up the footwells, twin glove box and cup holders for both front and rear passengers.
None of these features are present in the Civic which only reduces its appeal to someone hunting for a car packed with goodies. On the outside, the Corolla Altis also has rain sensing wipers, automatic headlamps which switch on soon as it gets dark and head lamp washers, not to mention HID lamps, a feature that I hold in the highest regard.
This is genuinely the first of the all-new bits that the Corolla Altis possesses. The chassis has been completely redesigned and constructed from scratch with the intention of increasing the dimensions and also making the overall construction lighter and stronger. Toyota has ensured that the suspension is still the MacPherson type at the front and a torsion beam at the rear which is mounted onto the chassis. Why mess with a good thing and experiment with more modern components and layouts? So the end result will enable the suspension layout to offer better ride comfort to pamper its occupants.
The Civic too has a torsionally strong and stiffmonocoquewhich is light yet highly tuned to give it superb dynamic ability. At 4545mm, it is 5mm longerthan the Corolla Altis, though the width is 10mm less, height lower by 30mm while the wheelbase is 100mm longer. The track however is shorter by nearly 40mm at the front and lSmm at the rear. But thanks to a more rigid suspension set-up which has an independent MacPherson set-up at the front with double wishbones at the rear, the on paper specs shows that the Civic is capable of better dynamics than the Corolla.
The Corolla has an electronically assisted speed-sensitive steering system while the Civic makes do with a hydraulic steering system. The Corolla also features 380mm disc brakes all around, with ventilated discs at the front and solid at the rear. The Civic on the other hand has much smaller 224mm ventilated discs at the front and 218mm solid discs at the rear.
The problem with the current Corolla is it's part of Toyota's world wide recall with more defects surfacing every other week on their line of cars.
Toyota Philippines is still denying that local cars are affected but inspite of that, local Toyota owners know better because of problems such as the fuel tank leak issue with the Innova and the engine problem found on Toyota D4D vehicles, both which Toyota Philippines is denying.
And then there is the "sludging" issue with the ZZ series engines found in the Corolla Altis.

Tsikot experts!
I'm looking to buy a new car next year and was set to buy a Corolla Altis 1.6G AT, due to practicality reasons. But after talking to some people they asked me to consider looking at a Civic...
So now I am looking for expert opinion between ALTIS 1.6G AT (869k) vs CIVIC 1.8V AT (898k)
My major considerations are...
1. Fuel economy
2. Long term practicality interms of maintenance
3. Performance
There was a similar forum but on manual versions so I am not sure how it compares
http://tsikot.yehey.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51248.
Thanks for your inputs!!
I'd say for:
1. Fuel Economy = Altis
2. Long term practicality in terms of Maintenance = Altis
3. Performance = Civic
BTW,
Altis versus the Civic
1 airbag = none
drum rear brakes = all disc brakes
front fog lights = none
auto climate control = manual dial
steering wheel audio controls = none
60:40 split foldable rear seats = fixed rear seats

for that comparison, i'd go for the altis. pero kung 1.8S M/T na civic (which is 10k more than tha 1.8V A/T), doon nako hehe.
