We jumped to a mid-size SUV when our kiddo squad hit three. Room for days, plus fold-flat seats for weekend gear hauls. Swerte ko lang that I got a sweet deal with good AC and leather trims hehe

    2. Value for money - favor features like good ac / ventilation, better quality parts, better interiors, and features and lower maintenance cost over cosmetics.

    3. Maintenance and serviceability - drive and forget, I don't have time to maintain it apart from annual maintenance.

    Thanks in advance.

In laws had a Starex, agree it's very roomy and comfortable but too big for us.

Yup,- and so, the Innova- the current or the previous model- should be a good deal for a growing family....

I have both the Innova and GS bro,- very solid rides.... I have no complaints in terms of maintenance cost (am doing only regular PMS) and performance...

Would you recommend gas or diesel and what engine size? What's the average gas consumption of the Innova?

I own a gasoline Innova bro (2L engine),- but I am recommending a diesel engine(2.5L engine),- kahit na iyong lumang model...

    Automatic Transmission:
My gasoline engine - 7Km/L City; my estimate 10Km/L Highway
Diesel engine - about 9Km/L City; 12Km/L Highway - two of my siblings own the previous model

Even better fuel consumption on the new diesel Innova (2.8L engine) (Bro-Sarsi's video - like 140KPH at 2KRPM - just wow!)

If Internal space is a key requirement, a minivan will be the best option. We just drove nearly 2k miles in the US Southeast and our Dodge Caravan was our best companion with all the luggage that we were hauling. Mas malaki pa interior space ng Caravan kaysa Nissan Pathfinder (midsize SUV like Explorer) and Nissan Armada (full size SUV like the Expedition).

A CX5 will surely be a better handling and faster vehicle than the MUX but it is not I suggest for hauling people and luggage. The Forester and CRV are bigger than a CX5.

The new CX-5 is one of the best CUVs right now in it's segment. I wish I could afford their diesel variant myself but 2.2M+ is way out of my budget.

But mind you, the CX is only a 5-seater and you can't really compare it with the MU-X, different category altogether. You would be better off comparing the CX-5 with the Forester, Rav-4, Tucson, Sportage, along with others of the same size.

The MU-X is compared with the Fortuner, Montero, Terra, etc.

We thought your budget was P1M if possible? You would be hard-pressed to find a diesel CX-5 at that price.

Hehehehe confused si kuya kaya nahirapan siyang pumili. Ok lang yan. Dinaan ko din yan. Pero ultimately it all boils down to the budget. From there, you can have choices.

Honda CRV Diesel or Mazda CX9. Wag kang bibili ng ladder frame SUV like Montero,Fortuner,Everest they are matagtag and has a higher risk of rollover unless kailangan mo mag offroad or nakatira ka sa lugar na madalas bumaha.

I'm on the same boat as OP. So...2 kids. Another on the way. 1 househelp currently but will need to add another when the 3rd baby arrives. Our 7-seater won't be enough soon. Looking at pre-owned previous model 11-seat starex/carnival. Which would be a better option moving forward? Space is the primary consideration. Next would be reliability/ease of maintenance since 2nd hand. Thanks in advance!

Edit: also, which year/models to avoid and common issues to look out for would be of great help. Thanks!
