May 16th, 2011 11:34 AM #1Hello everyone
New member here and will also be a 1st time car owner if this pushes through. Im currently confused on what to get between the 2 cars so kindly help me out. Regarding my driving background, i have been driving our jurassic toyota lite ace a decade ago but havent driven again for years and years so parang total newbie nanaman na ako.
It will be predominantly used for city driving, and driving back to laguna during weekends. Maybe out of town trips from time to time Pansundo ng mga mahal sa buhay.
My primary concerns are the ff
- fuel efficiency (1.4 vs 1.6)
- resale value
- parts and services
- "bang for the buck"
- bonus na lang ang porma sa akin
I have done some extensive researching and here are the figures of the 2 models.

There is an issue right now with the engine knock of Hyundai accent. Better read the thread about that first. Also, you may widen your search or choices of makes/models.

May 16th, 2011 12:53 PM #4i have already looked at toyota vios, nissan sentra, suzuki swift, and honda city but i have already crossed them out from my list and im looking at lancer and accent na lang
im not much into looks naman, also, i have budget constraints ok na sana ang accent though may engine knock issue daw sabi nila.

Lancer, mas maluwag sa loob. Wait nalang for the Accent's engine knock issue to be resolved before getting it. If I were to choose, Accent.

May 16th, 2011 01:16 PM #7kung AT hanap mo, yung 2 choices mo nga ang bang for the buck . i don't have any experience sa 2 cars na to but since i am also researching for a car with almost the same price range (700-800k), gusto ko ibigay opinion ko.
lancer gls:
pros:
all-wheel disc break
cvt transmission
dual airbag
old tech (sigurado marami na parts available)
cons:
old tech - matagal na daw yung engine at design nito (pede ding maging pro to hehe)
wag ka na kumuha ng in house financing. it would be wise kung sa bank ka na magloan. may kausap kaming branch manager ng metrobank just the other week and he told us that as low as 4.33% per year yung car loan. and since 50% naman balak mo idown, hindi ka mahihirapan makakuka ng loan nyan..
yung 32k na insurance na quote sa yo is too much.. yung strada namin around 27-28k lang yata with AOG pa. dapat mas mababa insurance ng lancer.
