kapatid, its been talked and clarified before that you may change Mazda3's HU without messing up the dash. Where did you get the misconception anyway?

anayway, Civic ang choice ko for long term reliability. Handling stock to stock, Mazda3 gets my vote.

    bro,

pasensya na ha, pero kung kukuha ka ng isang kotse dahil puwede mo palitan ang head unit, hindi ba porma lang din ang habol mo?

I think i mentioned na because puro automatic lang din yun mazda3 and i don't really like automatic. Good to know kung mapapalitan yun head unit, and im sure pwede pa din palitan yun tranny, but then again, gagastos pa ako. Pero maporma talaga Mazda3 =)

If it's the Mazda3 versus generic Civics, I'd pick the Mazda3. Against the new Civic Si, my money would be on the new Si. Add the reputation for long term reliability, excellent build quality, and a jewel of an engine (when was the last time you saw a naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder engine with 200hp?), it's no wonder the new Si is winning awards all over.

actually service is pretty good, nagbabagong image kasi mazda kaya tutok pa sila sa service quality nila

there are trade offs talaga from choosing a honda or a mazda badge, sa service mas ok mazda (we own a honda too) sa honda mas reliable, of course still cant say the same for mazda kasi bago pa

    i drive a mzda3 but mali yung comparo eh 2.3L 160hp vs 1.8L 140hp, naturally panalo 2.3L mazda

yung isang comparo naman sa thailand na panalo civic, 2.0L 141hp 3 2R vs 2.0L 155hp civic, specs palang talo na mazda

    ang dapat 2.3L mazda 160hp vs 2L civic 155hp
    or 2L mazda 141hp vs 1.8L civic 140hp

    yun close fight!!

wow it looks like the Mazda has beat the even the newer Civic in spades, almost all criteria the MZ3 walks all over the Gen8 Civic.

Hmmm. Mas mura dapat and M/T. An automatic always adds more to teh cost of the car. But isn't an automatic better for stop and go traffic like there in Manila? Of course, I'd get a M/T with a 4-cylinder car to make the most of the available power.

But, my favorite would be an automanual like the Porsche Tiptronic or the Shiftronic on our 06 Sonata. Parang M/T na walang clutch. I can use the manual mode when out in the open and then shift to full automatic when I encounter heavy traffic.

auto tranny of the 3 is no slouch narin naman and there's a manual override din good for downshifting to give oomph

some 3 owners have reached 200kph na, 160 to 180 is no sweat just a walk in the park lang but still have to try 180 to 200, anyway the 8th gen civic 2L with 155hp will be faster sa straight line but will not inspire you to drive faster on it unlike sa 3 na feel mu nakakapit ka sa kalsada, only problem is i have to bolt all my things inside the car kasi nagsisiliparan hehe

Personally, i think the new Civic still fails to inspire, although it's definitely something to consider among the newcomers of 2006. Honda is yet to come out of its aesthetic slump, IMHO. If i were to buy a car this year, i'd still pick the 3 over the Civic.

hello, finally able to see the Civic '06 on my own eyes. and took some photo's fm. my camera. well here's what i have to say.

    * Front Fascia: i thought it was better than the USDM, but seeing it in the flesh still failed to spark any emotion. MZ3 is still the looker.

    * Over-All Porma: still MZ3, but the one with Modulo kit is more palatable
and has better proportiions than the Altis (weird look).

    * Handling: if u value High-Speed curves more (for those who enjoy Canyon road downhill runs) and Superb Braking. the MZ3 is still the class leader.

    * Ride : Civic is softer, cushier. so has more ROLL. so if u value (a little more comfort) compared with MZ3. then Civic is better in that aspect.

    * 2 Tier Dash. can't say much, it was a brief encounter. probably it will grow on me. but the traditional dash is better for me.

    * Engine Growl: it seems louder than MZ3's? (that was the 1.8iVtec).

btw, how do u post pics? (i dont have a link, but have the JPEGS mismo). or anybody want to post it for me let me know your e-mail address.
