There's a thread somewhere here regarding this.

For the gen2, there's no GLXi.

GLX - 1.6L, power window, 60/40 split rear sit, abs, 3rd brake lamp, fog lamp, 6-way adjustable driver's seat

For the gen2.5 GLXi, lahat ng features ng GLX plus airbags.

The GLi and GLXi were the mid 1997 variants. They first sported the new logo (letter M which is still in use today). These had different headlight and taillight assemblies (the GLX had the front signal lights in the bumper). I think they upgraded the CD changer to a 10 disc Sony unit vs a 6 disc Clarion changer on the GLX. The stereo HU was repositioned higher on the dashboard. They also had 6 or 7 spoke mags vs the 10 spoke mags on the 1996 GL/GLX.

Also, I remember that Mazda came out with a 1.4L variant...forgot the designation but it was quite bare (no power features, vinyl seat material, etc.) A number of these were made into taxis.
