Aside from the old-school ergonomics, I find the Rubicon incredibly refined for an off-roader. The Ride is obviously jiggly, but not harsh (better than many pickups) and noise insulation is fantastic, especially considering the roof is a removable plastic assembly.
No comparison between the two. If you're going off-road, you want the Jeep, period. But me, if I were buying a car for use on road, I'd sooner look at a more modern local Cruiser or road-going SUV.
Of course, if I were going off-road, I'd be getting something old and modified.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

By sheer looks and sound of the diesel engine (whether the 1VD-FTV V8 or the 1HD-FT or 1HD-FTE inline-6) nothing gives you the orgasmic feeling than the Landcruiser 70 Series.... Plus complimented by Landcruiser's reputation in off-roading history. The 70 series is as hardcore as the Land Rover.
How good-looking they are, that's why up until now the Aussie's want them that bad
But, if you're looking for an alternative and way cheaper option to go off-roading, even hardcore ones, just order from Suzuki Pilipinas the Suzuki Grand Vitara 4x4 2.4-litre or the top-of-line 3.2-litre V6, where the latter can be imported straight from Japan at only PhP1.7 M (enquire at Suzuki Pasig).... and they all run in timing chains.
Here, Suzie Grand Vitara provides the pacing for the blue Jeep Rubicon behind
It's not a soft-offroader, here you see the integrated ladder-frame chassis of the Suzie that is "tucked-in" to the monocoque chassis, not just "outrigged" as most SUV's - this feature you can only get from luxury SUV's like the Mercedes Benz but you get it outright from the Grand Vitara for way lower price.
