Gregg_g, paki post mo lang details ng Sorento ride mo sa main thread ng Kia Sorento para maging aware mga co-Sorento owners natin sa mga accessories that they can install on their ride. At least ikaw may mga picture na sa ride mo. Ako, I'll try my best na talaga pag uwi ko sa pinas to take pictures of my Sorento and will post it. Thanks!

The Rexton is good if you like something with a Mercedes Benz drivetrain and other major bits. The latest batch of Rextons use the 2.7CRDi engine of the Grand Cherookee and MB ML270 CDI.

I am not going to wait 8 months for a Fortuner...

just to be clear (hehe), the Fortuner has the Torsen LSD on its center diff. off-road where you'd be locking the center diff anyway, the Sorento will have some traction (discounting the tires) advantage by way of an LSD in the rear diff.

Sorento looks good in green with pewter accent. hehe.

In addition to what mbt has said, a Center Diff is not installed to improve off-road performance. It is there to enable fulltime 4wd operation.

Off road, when traction demands are higher, you will have to lock the C/D and be in 'direct drive' mode with no differential effect.

On the Sorento and other on-demand 4wd systems, there is no center diff because the moment you go into four wheel drive you are already in a 'direct drive' state.

The LSD is a traction enhancing device. Though nowadays, very few manufacturers offer them since only a fraction of new 4x4's ever go off-road. Even fewer manufacturers offer fully locking rear diffs.

OT: I guess you will have to be the judge of that.

For me, it feels like an MB M-Class which can actually go off-road.

EX diesel na sorento wla bang abs,ebd and passenger side airbag? also if you got a budget 1.2M unit only, sorento base model diesel manual LX 1.198m but short on safety features and ammenities, Tucson automatic with sports mode 1.198m? no plans on going offroad.

I dunno if it's because of the Sorento's wider stance and lower ground clearance, but it feels more nimble than the Fortuner. I would choose it over the 2.7 gas and 2.5 diesel Fortuner but I'd change the stock 225/75/16's with 245/70/16's.

The EX 2.5 CRDI costs P1.45M locally

The factory price is US$13,633 (Kia Motors Korea), so it comes out to P763,448 (*P56:US$1)

The difference is P686,552 which consists of :
    Freight (Korea to Phils.) (small)
    Insurance (small)
    Handling/Arrastre (small)
    Distributor's Margin (small)
    Dealer's Margin (small)
and the biggest of all - Excise Tax/VAT/Other Taxes & Tarriffs (around 45%~55% of landed cost?)

Laki talaga kinikita ng gobyerno natin!

    It's actually 1,310,000 PHP.

The price just slowly crept up. At first it was 1,100,000 PHP lang.
