just want to know who and whos best between the two? although Kia is owned by Hyundai Korea.

    *Reliability?

    *Durability?

    *Power?

    *Interior?

    *Best Value for money?

I've seen the both cars in their respective show rooms also test drive one of them but i want the views from diffrent peeps.

Reliability and Durability are an unknown factor. It'll probably be a few years before we know, but I'm putting my bet on the Hyundai.

    Power, Getz, hands down.

Interior, I'd have to give to the Getz, as it's larger and more comfortable. More equipment, too.

Value for money? Depends, really... both are a good value, but remember, you get what you pay for. What you're not paying for on the Picanto is a whole host of features you can get in other cars. But as a commuter car, it's spot on. The Getz will offer you more versatility/utility, but will, of course, cost you more.

The Getz is a natural competitor to the Jazz. It's really a much bigger car than the Picanto.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

haven't had a really close look, but the getz parked outside our office building didn't seem to have the dinosaur window cranks. does that mean it's powered? there are no accurate specs on www.myhyundai.com.ph or even pricing :P

I test drive the hyundai getz 1.3 last week. i heres my review.
if you want to test drive Getz visit Hyundai Makati. bait ng sales rep nila unlike Picanto takutin ka na mag tataas pa daw within the month.

    Interior
    * Space - spacious than Picanto
    * In Dash CD Player - compre to unknown brand of CD from Kia
    * Power Windows
    * Locks (just add couple of hundreds you have power lock and alarm) Done by Hyundai.
    * Dashboard look simple (add another hundreds you have Silver Panels)
    * Shift Stick (astig)

Interior - All in all... there are lot of little things na wala sa ibang car na pinag isipan ng maigi (example lighter chime nasa tabi ng hand breake at my slot for your cell phone laptop at ano pang electronic device, para mas madaling mag charge.

    Exterior
    * i give the credit to picanto.
    * pro cool din hitsura ng Getz (yellow or red)

    Acceleration
    * 1.3 - Not bad like driving a toyota corolla 2000 sarap din pang over take.
    * mejo maingan lang makina pag nde pa malamig (based dun sa gamit namin for test drive)

    Suspension
    * not bad... pro iba pa din bigger cars parang walang humps at lubak gamit kasi namin (Mazda 626, Honda Accord, Daewoo Cielo)

I'd put my bet on Hyundai Getz... bigger engine and space, better quality ratings and experiences, and better local support.

    Hello guys,

Being an owner of a Picanto I suggest that one must compare the Picanto with the Getz 1.1L. The only thing similar about this cars is the 1.1L power plant. The Getz boby is wider and longer than the Pica.

Performance lalamang ang Pica because of its curb weight of around 850kg. The curb weight of the Getz is not listed in the website. So I estimate it to be in the +950kg range. This translates to a better power to weight ratio for the Pica.

Amenities - lamang and Getz. power windows, space + other bells and whistles.

Styling - subjective ito. I like the Pica's styling better than the Getz.

Ibang story pag Getz 1.3L ang comparo because this engine will blow the Pica in the power to weight ratio department.

Bottom line here is both are good city cars. Its how you use it. In my case, its our second car so space is not an issue. I have a carnival to cover that motoring application plus I got the Pica at 330K back in Sept 2004. Hehehehehe

The Getz 1.1 has fuel consumption issues because of its heavier body which is 1024 kilos. If your budget falls within the 1.1 series, get the Picanto. Otherwise, purchase the Getz as it has better interior space.

If I were you, I'd wait for the facelifted version as the 1.5 turbo diesel version would come (September?) as well as the 1.4 gas version which allegedly has better fuel consumption than the 1.3.

It seems that www.myhyundai.com.ph is not being attended to by HARI. philippines.hyundai-motor.com would be the more reliable site.

    Re: tropicalization:

    1) I own a Picanto. Aircon is exceedingly strong under any temperature, and my car doesn't have any tint. Nobody complains in the back seat that the aircon is too warm; in fact it is often the reverse.

    2) Note that the Picanto is a top-seller in South Africa as well as in Europe. Also, it is sold throughout Malaysia and Singapore, where it is even hotter than the Philippines. I doubt that the Getz being more "tropicalized" than the Picanto is anything more than marketing-speak.

Thanks to all the contributors to the discussions on Getz vs Picanto.

Now I made up my mind to buy the Getz 1.4L AT. Hyundai Pasig price is 578k, insurance, chattel mortgage fee and 3yrs LTO registration were waived. Am getting it on in-house financing 20% downpayment (115,600) balance 16,712 per month for 3 years.

Ok na ba yung deal na yon? Will test drive next week before making the down payment. They say delivery is 2-3 days after.

Test drove the new Vios yesterday at Market Market. The base model which is really bare (pang taxi) is 575k. Decided to stick with the Getz although I hope they don't introduce a new model soon. Also prefer a hatchback than sedan.
