    Hey tsikoteers,

    (coming from this thread [SIZE=1]http://tsikot.yehey.com/forums/showt...=37776&page=10

[SIZE=2]I decided to take my questions in a new thread so as not to hijack the previous one with my questions.)

May balak na kase ako bumili ng sarili kong car and my first choice is kia picanto. then I saw that honda city sells for only 575k (nakalagay sa site, yet to be confirmed tomorrow sa showroom nila) na lang while picanto is around 500k.

Di ko naman babayaran ng cash but I did the math and konti lang talaga difference. so here comes my dilemma. if konti lang difference sa price ng dalawa, it will come down to the other expenses like replacement parts, maintenance, gas mileage, etc.

a lot of people favors honda city (even my bf who's skeptical at first kase sabi nya baka mahirapan ako sa city kase mababa daw un - medyo maliit kase ako ) but then I still have to consider what has to come after I buy the unit. so i need your opinions on this

what do you guys think? TIA

Well, they are both pretty basic cars.

If you don't find the 75K price difference objectionable (which amounts to 15% of the Picanto's price already), then go for the City. It's a bit more refined, roomier, better engine, interior, etc. The maintenance however might cost just a little bit higher.

The Picanto isn't that bad too.

Though at this category (and price range), I'd also look at the Getz (specifically the CRDi variant) and the Rio.

by the way, yung picanto ba eh free na ang chattel mortgage, insurance and LTO registration? Kung free na just take it to consideration sa city, kasi kung hindi pa free sa honda city iyon eh magdadag ka pa ng additional 30 to 40 thousand kaya ang price difference nila ay lalagpas na ng 100thousand plus hindi pa yata power window at power door lock ang city na 575k.

just clarify it from the dealers so that you can get the best deals. ang pagkakaalam ko promo ng kia yung free na ang chattel, insurance and LTO. I just asked about it last december di ko lang sure kung in effect parin ngayon yung promo nila.

And also dumaan kame sa Trinoma yesterday and saw yung mini-showroom sa gitna. Yung Chevy Aveo nila naka-promo.

by the way, may ilalabas daw na bagong model na jazz this year siguro baka maglabas din ng bagong city. Just read the car forums section dito sa tsikot. naku mukhang mas mahihirapan ka magdecide pag naconfirm na this year lalabas yung bagong city.

are you considering the Picanto for its fuel efficiency? Think again, here in sunny metro manila, we have this very amazing traffic that makes a compact car guzzle gas like its a midsizer. The Picanto is not an exception. Got a friend who runs 12km/l in his Pica, a Honda City Type Z(not the newer model) can match that easily. A friend also who has a 1.3S City ZX (the facelifted current model) can run as high as 14km/l daw its a manual tranny.
But then again, even the base City is all powered with CD Stereo and hey! the hubcubs in the Pica just looks better but it is still a hubcub, much like what is offered with the base City. And with the City, you get bigger engine, more room and that famed, ahem, "H" badge, if it counts on you ;)

wow.. really? ngayon ko lang nalaman yan ah.. i've got so much to learn about cars pa pala (maybe its time for me to step out of my linux world eheh )

actually, i'm not only considering the gas consumption but also the maintenance, parts and everything in between. i'm making enough naman for myself pero ayoko naman biglain yung sarili ko lalo na kung first ko pa lang naman magkakaroon ng car. dapat nga pre-owned yung bilhin as advised by my kuya but since wala nga ako alam sa cars, bka magkamali ako sa bibilhin ko.

    anyway, thanks for the advise

go for honda city, the price difference will be negligible in the long term which you will not regret later

Kahit na same price ang Kia and Honda na car, iba pa rin ang honda compared to the Kia. Better get the Honda, if budget permits.

Me, i'd prefer the picanto, cute compact car. Okay naman sana ang honda city kaso its looks are a love it or hate it thing (suggest ko wait for a few months lalabas na rin ang bagong city malay natin mas maganda ang mukha nito).

if in any case , try considering the Aveo sedan, maganda sa features, with ABS, dual airbags and all powered na.

yung makina ata niya is the "E-TEC II 1.4 L DOHC with VGiS, engine.

for more info's, try visiting their club site, www.chevroletclubphilippines.tk or rather the chevrolet philippines site
