If you merely want to get from point A to point B, Civic wins. It's got better gas mileage and a more powerful engine.

But if you want to have fun getting from point A to point B, go for the Mazda 3. It fits like a glove.

Suspension and handling matters most to me so mazda 3 is still my choice. Although the suspension of the new civic is good, body roll during sharp cornering is felt more as compared to the Mazda 3. Also, the torque rating for the civic is higher but in actual driving, you need to rev the civic at higher rpm to get good acceleration. The mazda 3's engine in my observation, is more responsive during stop and go traffic. But at high speed driving, the civic will definitely eat the mazda 3 (even if 1.8 civic vs. 2.0r).

Yes agree when based on the premise of Civic 1.8S & MZ3 1.6S. so Mazda Phil. needs to prepare for a re-match and soon with the 150hp 2.0li S-VT + 5MT. i think it can confidently beat the 2.0li 5MT of the Civic. the automatic version maybe on Honda's favor though due to better gearing with the addition one more forward gear.

Sporty looks, I would go for the Mazda over a small margin. Fuel/power/reliability performance I would go for the Civic.

okay yan ang competition, and while theyr at it. remind them about the need for a true manual tranny. 5MT or 6MT (for marketing gimmick) he he.

Give and take everything stated above and beyond, if given the chance again to buy a Mazda 3 or the new Civic, I'd choose the 3 again. What if the new Civic came out before the 3? I wonder if...

    +1

magkano kaya ang presyo kapag meron nang surplus na 2.3 mazda 3 engine? sana mag realease na sila ng mazdaspeed version or kahit 2.3m/t man lang...that will be the day...

i really like the corner handling of the mazda 3...minsan wala na nga akong pa preno preno kapag lumiliko sa kalsada sa makati...acceleration is not a problem sa busy street...everytime i see a wide open space, i just floor the pedal and it just zooms away even in a/t mode...it never fails to make me grin...

    like Nighthawk Black Pearl?

I agree with OTEP, the extra long dashboard is annoying specially when it reflects to the windshield. How much more kung naka armorall, hahaha.

Handling, my previous Mazda3 seems to be better. Pero with gas consumption and reputation for build quality in mind, Honda gets my vote. Its no wonder I sold the MZ3 for the FG.

The Si looks much sportier to me than the Mazda3 with performance to match.

By the way, I was checking out your pics in the gallery. That's a mean Dodge Magnum near your car. It's driver is obviously a dick since he saw a need to take up two parking spots. Is he afraid of someone in an old clunker slamming the door on his Magnum?

Actually looking at more of your pics, many of you guys can't park properly, including you. j/k

One last thing.... Is your Si a M/T or A/T?

si wheels pa lang obvious na di sya Si. at wala namang A/T ang Si Coupe na Civic. actually i don't like Coupe's kasi dahil cguro sa economic conditiion sa atin eh i'm more biased towards more practical cars. something like with 4doors. kaya Sedan or Hatch para sa akin.

Ooops. My bad. I forgot that the Si isn't the only Civic coupe. Also, the lack of a spoiler should have been a dead giveaway..... And yup, the Si is M/T only.

for me ok lang yung trade-off e, kasi mas maganda yung front ng JDM (ala RSX) as opposed to the USDM version
