*Dinan: are you really going to find the 4x4 useful like in a farm or somethng? If not, try checking out the CRDi 4x2 or wait for the 4x4 CRDi.

medyo malakas sa gas yung V6 nila eh, 9km/L ata.

    thanks horsepower.

actually thats why i'm okay with the 4x2 since i wont be using it for off road. i just compared it to the 4x4 fortuner because of price. But as you said for 9km/l sa V6 not bad na yun eh the forts 7-8 km lang and in any variant pa yun. dsl or gas. Just wanted to know the crdi. I just sold my 2001 starex and i was getting 5-7km/l and my new starex crdi gets about 7 too. Though this car is heavy, that why i was trying to find out the consumption on the 2.2.

as for the others, i think the korean cars are pretty good na. Imagine i bought my millenium starex in 2001 for 890k and sold it two weeks ago for 510k.. NOT bad for a car used for 5 years. so resale value am not that worried. basta timing lang...

based on your last statement, i think you should get a fort. honestly each car would've been a very good buy. SF can cruise at 180kph easy, but its a hyundai and you'd have to be prepared to justify your decision in front of your friends etc... the fort is a toyota, and in the phil, you cant go wrong with a toyota. its as reliable as death & taxes. plus the fact that you really dig its looks. the only downside about the fort is that either everyone got one or everyone wants one. in the end, it all boils down what are your WANTS, we are all here just to give you advice....

really dont understand why some people have no balls and are sooooooo afraid to stand by their decisions. i got the same comments almost 2 years ago, but everytime we go for a trip, those same people who bashed me are the first to seat. better to prove em wrong.

i dont know, but i really dont like Toyotas, they sell boring cars to meand you are just like everybody else.

That's for me...

Ito pa, kahit saan mo idaan ang Fortuner okay lang (ON-road & Off road). Sa Santa Fe, On-road lang kasi galing sa Sonata ang chassis nya. (mula sa kotse which is design pang On road lang). Isa pa, hindi pa rin talaga sigurado ang tibay ng Hyundai kahit ngayon. baka magsisi ka lang.

Santa Fe peeps, peace. just my opinion.

There are pros and cons to each vehicle... if I were a farm owner, I'd probably get a Fortuner or an Everest (though I like the highway stability of the Fort better than the Eve.) over the Santa Fe... but if you're in an urban environment, the Santa Fe is still the better choice... not to mention the fact that it has the best knee and legroom in the third row of the sub-2m seven seater SUVs.

Resale value? Those are asking prices, and those depend on the sellers. The question is: what price will the buyers buy at? I could ask a million pesos for my car, but it doesn't mean that people would buy it at such.

In terms of long-term durability... I'd say the Fort has the advantage on the underside... very stiff suspension, beam axle rear, etcetera... there is a possibility of the brakes being too small for the weight, and possible early replacement over the long haul, though... and the fuel pump of the Fortuner is a known problem on dirty diesel. The Fort's transmission is more heavy-duty than the Santa Fe's, though... but there have been no reported failures of Hyundai's transverse gearbox, yet... and the Santa Fe doesn't have enough torque to actually eat its own box...

The Santa Fe's underside isn't as robust, but Hyundai's injectors and pumps are relatively sturdy... injector failures I've heard of are all well past the 100k km mark. (Though Dieseldude might know more about this)... the interior should wear better, too... the flimsy foam headrests on the Fortuner's rear seats and the cheap silver paint on the plastics wear out easily... I've seen this on some Forts... disappointing compared to the silver trim on my Ford which has lasted through over 80,000 kms of abuse and hasn't begun to discolor, though I've chipped it in places with my keys. The Santa Fe has better leather and good plastics on the inside, and the dark interior won't show scuffs and stains as easily as the all-beige Fort.

I've seen how modern Korean interiors wear over time, and while it's not as solid as Japanese-built interiors, nothing comes loose (like on my old Exalta) and it's at least as good as the Fortuner's Thailand-built interiors, if not better.

    ----

Honestly, you're buying a vehicle not to sell it or run it into the ground... so buy what makes you feel good and take very good care of it. Some Hyundai vehicles of the recent past have had their problems, but I know owners who've taken care of theirs and have made them last as long or longer than comparable Japanese cars.

    Sa iyo lang yun. ;)

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

    Yup. agree naman ako dito.

I am an SF owner and Fort's edge against SF is its ride height and rear solid axle which can be more dependable on rough terrain.

However, on well-paved roads, angat naman si SF.

if I'm gonna buy an suv worth 1.6M, i'd get the SF.

Reason is simple: I dont want to drive an SUV for 5years thats matagtag knowing we'll for that same amount money I've could be driving something better and comfier everyday for me and my family.

why 5 years? we'll its my estimate on how long I'll keep a car in my garage and besides SF's today get a 5year/100kms warranty. on the ave. I drive 20K a year so thats 5 years and 100kms with no worries on faulty manufacturing. Given it's all independent and that more parts (suspension) are subject to wear and tear compared to the Fort and thats more good to know that in those 5years me warranty pa ko. (Fort: 3yrs/100K) 2 years difference is such a long time and many things can breakdown during that period.

The Looks really depends, but IMHO the interior feel is more important than the outside. Its what I always see when I'm behind the wheel (ergonomics) and another is how it handles when I turn that wheel. Roads arent always straight bro's!

Resale? if its still good after 5 years it a keeper, me sentimental value na cguro yun!

    But this is IMHO

The Fortuner's interior is nothing spectacular, but it is still way better than the Tucson's ugly plastican world, Santa Fe's overkill lightings, or even the Alterra drab looks. Overall, if I had to do it all over again, I would still get a Fortuner, anytime.
