I know there is a thread on tucson or fortuner. But had to start another one because my dilemma is choosing between the two.

well comparing lang on santa fe crdi 2.2 vs fortuner 2.5 dsl if available but if not 3.0 dsl.

    Okay quick comparisons.

    fortuner -
    1. if 3.0 its 4x4
    2. Toyota siya.
    3. a little bit bigger

    Santa Fe.
    1. 2.2 crdi 4x2 lang
    2. same unit that is road worthy in the US and Europe. Here the fortuner is not even sold in the US
    3. mid size SUV so i think ride wise better kasi SUV built talaga not pick-up dressed to be SUV

    Inputs naman.
for santa fe owners mileage consumption naman.

2.5 Fortuner vs 2.2 Santa Fe = Santa Fe or current CRDI 4x2 Sorento

    3.0 Fortuner vs 2.2 Santa Fe = I'd wait for the 4x4 Sorento w/ VGT/170+hp

If you are not the type of person who would change his/her million-peso cars every couple of years or less, do not be too mindful of the resale value. Think of your riding experience for 3 or more years instead of nail-biting on your first day of purchase because your car would not not have a high appraisal in 3 years or so.

from what i read in the forum about SF and 42nr, if you have extra money go for santa fe, because even if its 1.5M something, the features and all is worth more than what you're gonna pay for...its like you're selling a 2M plus murano for 1.5M.

And about the resale value, i was thinking, since hyndai is making a good mark in the car industry, the Filipinos myt just have a change of mind with regards to comparing hyndai and toyota cars...so who knows..nothings impossible...

If you do not have off-roading adventures in mind, the Santa Fe gets my vote.

One thing I can tell you is that, pag Santa Fe ang kinuha...you'll hear. "Ay....Santa Fe". Pag Fortuner naman..."Wow....Fortuner".

If you don't care about these things. I suggest you get the Santa Fe.

Basta ako....kasama ako sa mga tao magsasabi na. Ay....Santa Fe.

Pasensiya na, malakas talaga ang brand equity ng Toyota dito sa Pinas.

ok lang yun, 1 year more and 1000 more units sold, baligtad na yan.

pang - masa "Ay .... Fortuner" at pang-novelty "Wow ... Santa Fe" naman

    ang natural reactions.

    Santa Fe for me.
One time lang nakita ni kumander ang Santa Fe pero na in-love agad. Pero gusto niya white. Anyway, mukhang hindi pa kami makakabili dahil walang white sa dealers. Baka grey market...

    Think outside of the box...

    +2 for the Santa Fe

A cinch to drive, lakas ng hatak. It's like a "poor man's Cayenne".

    love those ***y parking lights!

Same here. I'd rather go for a road-tuned unibody vehicle like the Santa Fe rather than an off-roader with a stiff suspension and a ladder-frame for urban use.

And you do have a point about the Santa Fe's crashworthiness rating. It's a pretty good deal as compared to Japanese or US nameplates.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

I own a 2.5 D4D Fortuner and my father has placed an order for a 2.2 Sta Fe. I've tried both vehicles.

    IMHO
    1. riding comfort Sta Fe ang panalo, matatag ang Fortuner
    2. power / accelaeration - Fortuner
    3. Space / Legroom - Fortuner
    4. Design - Even

Sta Fe: Plus factor - Cooler, Self leveling suspension, disk brakes on all 4's, HID headlights. stock leather seats (in the Fortuner it cost me 60T plus)

But I hate the fake wood trim of the Sta Fe.

And one more thing - Ang Sta Fe parang dead steering, too soft for my taste parang walang feedback.

    .
    Bid question marks for me.....

power? kakadrive ko lang kanina, swap kami ng tropa ko on the way to sm pampanga. even him admits that. 200nm is no much to a 335 nm of torque and 102 hp againts 150 hp.

space? fortuner is longer and has a bit more space after the 3rd row, but santa fe is wider to me inside and has better driving position, thanks to the bigger wind shield.

design? "never even" my friend......reveiw the specs.....rear pa lang at kalampag ng door ibang iba na for santa fe.

Well... since we are just comparing the 4x2 variants of the Santa Fe & Fortuner then we can probably deduce that its purpose is primarily for city & highway use.

In this case, the Php 150K premium of the Santa Fe will buy you the following:
    - 33% more hp (150hp vs 102hp)
    - 60% more torque (335Nm vs 200Nm)
    - an extra gear (5AT vs 4AT)
    - self-leveling suspension
    - rear disc brakes
    - projector type lamps
    - leather seats

Pound-for-pound the Santa Fe does make sense- mazdamazda

you can chip the Santa Fe and make it 180hp / 395Nm. All else stock, you'll just replace the chip. The funny thing about the extra power is it'll actually make it run farther per liter.
