*medyo* mabigat na yung innova pag full load (7 people with cargo). I guess mas mararamdaman yun sa super grandia.
which of them has captain's chairs? yun nalang yun!
kung mas malaki pa budget, previa!![]()

We have both the Super Grandia and the Grand Starex in our family, the Super Grandia is being used by my brother and his family and they are very happy with it. (its driver driven 99% of the time) While I opted for the Grand Starex CVX and I am very satisfied with it and love its car like performance (its driven by me 95% of the time). Having driven both vans, my vote goes to the Grand Starex for a number of reasons:
1. I feel very unsafe driving a flat-nosed van, with the Starex I feel safer knowing that the engine is in front of me rather than under my seat, at least there is the extra "crush space" in the event of a collision.
2. Driving the Grandia is akin to driving an Isuzu Elf while driving a Starex is like driving car or a mid sized SUV.
3. 102hp for the Grandia and 174hp for the Grand Starex, I guess its pretty obvious who's got a lot more muscle.
But if ever you decide to go for the Grand Starex, I suggest you go with the HVX instead of the HARI issued Gold series. The Gray Market simply offers more value for the money with the added features. I was also in a dilemma about a year ago when I was about to buy a Grand Starex, after looking at both the offerings from HARI and the Gray Market alike, I ended up with the CVX model from Pitstop Motors, no regrets at all.
Here's a couple of non-technical points
1)The Grand Starex, kung galing sa HARI, comes with 5 years warranty standard... this can either be a good thing, kung matino talaga yung dealership, or a not-so-good thing kung stealership yung napuntahan.
2)As it stands mas mataas pa rin yung resale value ng mga toyota over hyundais.
then a couple of concerns
1) May nabasa akong thread dito na yung Grand Starex nagdevelop na ng squeaks (bumigay na yung mga bushing) after just around 2000 km of driving in rough visayan roads (nakalimutan ko kung sa Leyte/Samar ba to o sa Panay.)
2) Are there still 2.5 liter D-4D's dying on the road?
eto last OT na talaga.
*whitebug45: no harm meant, no harm done. so kelan ba lalabas yung diesel tucson dito? how about yung i20?
Hmmm. to put the matter to rest... I searched for the injector pressures for the bosch and denso systems.
The third generation BOSCH system generates 1800 bar of pressure. this is equivalent to 180 megapascals
The third generation DENSO system can generate 180 megapascals... and up to 200 megapascals of pressure.
So. More or less, equal diba? Both systems are probably Piezo-type, hindi na solenoids.
Therein lies my point that the power output differences lies not in the "superiority" of bosch over denso, but rather the engine tuning of the individual manufacturers
by your logic, then every engine made by Honda after the B15a (in the Civic SiR-1600 cc, 160 hp) should make at least 1 hp per 10 cc of displacement. Edi dapat 200 hp yung 2.0 civic ngayon. Dapat 180 hp yung 1.8 civic. Dapat 230 hp yung CR-V. pero hindi diba?
It's because of how manufacturers tune and set up the engines.
manufacturers tune or detune their engines based on the need to create a compromise between power, torque, fuel economy, manufacturing complexity, and manufacturing cost.
There are alot of other factors to include in engine output. Fuel-air mixture, compression ratio, turbocharger pressure, and air intake temperature just to name a few.
As it stands, the koreans have chosen to go to the cutting edge when it comes to setting up their engines, in contrast to the "conservatives".
ayt! peace mga ser!
Happy New Year!
Happy New year and GOD bless!
its nice to hear that if you put unichip or intercooler turbo or turbocharger would increase the power but the fact is they are not putting onto it... we should have to compare whats on its unit... if we going to considered as putting what your thinking then it would be modified and its cost too much don't you think? lets talk what's on the list... not on modifying... hope you understand guys... any manufacturer can do that. thats why they were having a racing contest but their car was modified!hope you'll understand guys...

*Erich: sorry for the OT, pero yung technologies and design aspects behind both vehicles' engines yung napag usapan the past few pages. hope you gained something from the discussion
ALL cars will have problems. Wear and tear, and other serendipitous events will cause those problems. You'll just have to be diligent in maintenance of the car.
What to watch out for are innate defects (like the killer accelerator pedals in the US toyotas) and lemon units.
Kung meron mang kotseng perfectly reliable, and maintenance free, well, agawan tayo para makakuha ng ganung unit.
As I said, extreme situation naman yun. you could ask s_quilicot for the details.
and the GS clearly deserves the award it garnered.
The lesser the sulfur the higher euro compliance ang makakamit?
Paging mga gurus, please enlighten me more. Thanks in advance po. Happy New Year To All.
Super grandia is intended merely for Asian market as the body will surely not pass in Europe. What is available here is the wedge type for safety reason of course, and better aero dynamics for more acceptable fuel economy. The Grand starex(H-1) on the other hand,is available in europe,so safety wise, this is much better option than the super grandia IMHO. Reliability? time will tell.
The TCI is lacking a few features (passenger airbag).
Power is comparable to the hiace kasi old engine na.
Yung VGT yung malakas
I had a 2009 starex crd and sold it after 2 years. Its a perfect van but the suspension is still very weak in the sense that i had to change shocks and other underchasis parts in less than 2 yrs and then after awhile balik nanaman ang noise so i sold it instead of spending again. I only have hyundai casa repair it.
Then after, i got a super grandia. Its the best even if the engine is underseat its not that noisy and not that hot. No problems at all. The driver drives it 95% of the time so i wouldnt mind that it doesnt have a "nose".
Thanks for this input, sir.
Actually this is my concern considering how bad our roads here. Just a week of rain and it's like driving on the moon with so many potholes and craters on the road. Add to that those big and sharp rumble strips, I am afraid how long can the suspension of a GS take that beating. I have a Dmax and at more than 5 yrs old, walang katunog tunog, walang lagutok until now and it will pass those potholes like they are not even there.hehe Un lang matagtag and firm and that was the same feeling when I rode in a SG and Grandia.
In fact that's the same thing with my aunt's. Palagi daw tumutunog ung part sa may suspension. Kaya sabi niya ang bilis masira. Her's is also maintained in the dealership.
Anong difference?

Ang sikip, very uncomfortable unless you are seating infront.
