Biased opinion lang, we have a 3.0TD MUX and it is by far the most comfortable ladder frame mid-sized SUV in the Philippines. Na-compare ko ride ng old fortuner against our Montero, masmaganda sa di hamak ang sa Montero. Pero itong MUX, iba tlga! Better than the Montero's ride, and I will say na near car like. NVH insulation is top notch as well.
Hindi pa ako nakakasakay sa new Fort but reviews say naman na malayo ang old model sa new one in terms of refinement and ride.
Having said these, alam ko kung bakit sila pinagcocompare mo. Sila kasi magka-presyo at 1.4M. Definitely more bang for your buck ang MUX. Lamang lang si Toyota sa new GD engine niya na 2.4L lang displacement pero produces a little less power (-13PS) and slightly more torque (+20Nm).
Value for money would be the mux. Seriously the automatic is better than a manual.
For an extra cost you will have a better interior and nvh with the fortuner.
Save your knees for other activities. Get the automatic mux

Mabbalu..![]()
If you live in metro manila you should get an automatic.

Fortuner G na A/T or M/T. Bago na engine and since euro4 na fuels pwedeng pwede.
Tuguegarao native din ako. I know how bad traffic there can be. But the size of the MUX is not so cumbersome. It can squeeze through traffic and navigate the tight roads of that city. I'm already a resident of another big city in the valley where traffic is better, but considering that we need to traverse mountains whenever we go to Manila, I chose the value for money SUV, the MUX. Makes mincemeat of mountains, parang wala lang. I even get cocky overtaking trails of 10 wheelers basta straight road. Never pa ako nabitin sa overtaking.
My only regret is that I did not wait for the Titanium Silver and settled for the spermatic white. I got my unit from Manila (Alabang) as well. Nakausap ko driver ng Isuzu, binibilisan daw nila sa mga expressways yung mga unit from Batangas port to their respective destinations. Pero OT na.
Go for MUX bro. Bang for the buck. By the way, may complaint pa akong isa. Masyado siya matipid sa fuel. Napapabili tuloy ako ng galon since di ko na nauubos fuel between gas allowance to the next.
