Acceleration: Civic, by a lot, especially since the Cruze is more of the comfort oriented type like an Altis rather than a sporty all rounder.

Looks: Tough to judge actually. I think the facelifted Civic is still very, very gorgeous especially in red, pearl white, or bronze. The Cruze is more of a looker but only because it's newer and there's fewer on the road. Close fight, but I guess Civic.

Interior: Cruze, because the Civic seats are hard and I don't like the long dashboard. but the Civic does look good too, just quite quirky unlike the Cruze which is less spunky but at least it's beautiful.

Engine: Civic. That 1.8 is very potent. And it's not that bad economically. Well I guess the Cruze is a tad more fficient especially with the 6-AT, but the extra fun of the Civic's iVTEC can't be passed up.

Ano mas practical: Any of the two. I'm not sure about the Cruze's interior space. Civic is class-leading but the Cruze seems bigger but I haven't compared side by side the legroom especially at the rear so I can't really tell. They can't be that far though. Practically as a daily drive? Probably the Honda, just because it carries the notion that it breaks down less than GM cars in general. And the 10K PMS is better than 5k (not sure if GM's is 10k too).

FC: Cruze. Though it's heavier, the car in itself is not meant to be a performance freak. And as I said, the 6AT helps especially in highway conditions

Impression: When the facelifted Civic came out, I really wanted it, especially that the 1.8S had really great value. When the Cruze came out, it was also awesome, but somehow the best it could muster was "cheaper alternative to the Civic." Because the 1.8S Civic is more or less nearer to the LS than the LT Cruze, you could look at the Cruze as a bargain though.

Overall though, I'd still pick a Civic, because I can live with the seats and I would like that extra bit of sportiness in an everyday car. But if you give me a Cruze, it's not that bad either. :P

My brother owns a 2006 Civic 1.8S A/T. The seats are hard! It's uncomfortable on long drives. The audio system of the civic sucks. Tunog lata. The cruze's audio is way way better. The only thing better in a civic as compared to a cruze is probably the engine. It can sprint faster. And only because its body is light weight. But let me tell you that the cruze's handling and road stability is superb. Mas planted yung gulong sa kalsada. I ran 160kph with my cruze and the engine isn't noisy. With the civic, umiiyak na makina sa 150. and parang nakakatakot na dahil nga magaan masyado. Mas manipis kasi kaha.

In the long run, it remains to be seen. The cruze is new and yet to prove its worth. Both in quality and durability.

Na experience ko sa Civic FD ko yung 166KPH na tapos ayaw na tumaas Pero sa ibang cars hindi naman ganun. Swabe ang pag hataw.

+1 ako sa Handling ng Cruze, Optra palang maganda na yung handling.

Yup. Driven both, diba ? Civic and Optra.

I agree, mas mabilis umarangkada ang Civic compared mo sa optra na ubod ng bagal sa acceleration. But yung handling, yeah ... cruze ako ... sa optra din. Swabe. Ang galing.

Sa top speed, I still don't know. And I guess, I shall never know and able to compare. Nabenta na kasi yung optra. Hehehe.

But yeah, if matutuloy ako ng subic this weekend, I might be able to test the Civic's power in SCTEX. That's if, kaya ng puso ko. :hysterical:

I agree btw with the seats of the Civic. The ride is stiff, too. Though it's tolerable ... may be better if the seats were softened and the ride was less stiff. I have to live with it, I guess.

Nakakasawa na ang Civic, I strongly agree. Madami na eh. Nabawasan na yung WOW factor.
