Yeah i know about the 220hp vs 280hp, is it worth the wait and the money to buy the sti. The agent told me that it will come out this month or the next. The 1.7m(wrx) or the 2.2m(sti)? Pls enlighten me.

actually its 230hp vs 300hp kung 06-07 models. if you are going to bring it to the track or make it a track day car then the sti would be better but if you're just driving it on highways and cities then the wrx would be more than enough. i also read somewhere that the wrx is the more civilized one and better suited as a daily driver.

I think the thread starter is referring to brand new units from Motor Image Pilipinas (the official distirbutor of Subaru here in the PI).

The Impreza WRX is already more than enough for Philippine roads but if you have the money to burn - then go for the WRX STi.

P2.2M for the STi at motorimage? i thought it was at P2.4M?

imo apart from the higher HP, the STi has so much more technology in it than the standard WRX but if you will find it difficult to appreciate those items then better get a standard model.

at the prices you mentioned there's that half a million price difference(money is money) if it's in the budget anyway may as well...

Tama naman, if you're using it daily, the WRX is a better choice, lower fuel consumption, tamer ride... relatively... and it's still just as exciting to thread through traffic.

But: if you're itching for more power and more ability, be warned... it'll cost a lot of moolah to upgrade a regular WRX to STi grade, and it's not just a simple case of tweaking turbos.

If you eventually want the full STi experience, you might as well pony up to buy the STi.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

ser thread starter, ano choice mo?

btw, is it true that the upgrade kit for the WRX can make it more powerfull and faster(max 280kph) than the STI?...and is cheaper.

i don't think so kasi pano yung 6-speed transmission advantage ng STi. Replacing the whole transmission would surely be pricier.

Rode in a friend's STI recently and iba talga yung power nya compared sa WRX! But if you intend to bring passengers in your ride, you better warn them in advance cuz ramdam sobra every bump.

Mas ok ang WRX kaysa STI version, medyo di ok ang WRX STI rito dahil Euro-Asian version ang nandito hindi yung 300hp USDM...Oh well sulit naman ang WRX...

see, this is why suspension is not a big factor for me when choosing between the STi and the WRX. How many STi owners really kept their suspension stock anyway?? More often, they replace it with full coil-over suspension. I know I would have.

again, most STi owners doesnt stay stock anyway. Why dont we equally modify both WRX and STi? ;) And it could be a matter of time and HP before tranny on WRX needs upgrading. When that happens, an STi tranny upgrade 6-spd, DCCD, LSD = $6995* plus 02+ WRX installation kit $1499*

    *price quote from gruppe-s

anong lugar ba naman sa Pinas ang hindi matagtag?

    Boyscout, congrats on the purchase.

Yes, you can make a regular WRX as powerfull as the STI, not sure about faster though. My nephew had a WRX with the old 2.0L(EJ205) with the 227 stock and by the time he was done tuning it with the help of Vishnu Tuning it was making STI numbers on the dyno. The current 2.5L(EJ255) engine on all WRX models should be easier to tune for STI level power, granted you won't get the suspension and all the other stuff(6 speed being one) with the STI but you can get the power to equal at the very least. Too bad he sold it after he parted out all the tuning parts and returned it to stock to get the new 3 series.

go with the STI you wont regret the waiting time and the money spent ... iba parin ang stock power than a wrx that you upgraded to make 280hp and int he long run the sti would have a better resale than the wrx
