I also looked at these two same models a month ago as we were looking for a vehicle upgrade.Between the two,mas gusto ko yung montero gls for the ff. reasons:
    1. Ride Comfort
    2. Better interior (aesthetics)
    3. Safety features,specifically airbags

In terms of maintenance, engine performance, looks, resale value almost similar lang sila.

I opted though for the blue power na mu x...personal choice lang.

But any of the three (fort, monty and mu x) ok naman, nasa preference nalang yun.

Good luck on your purchase and happy and safe driving.

i recently got a PPV, eto ang dahilan kumbakit di ko kinuha ang Montero

those are 100 PNP cars donated by the Jap Government, meaning maging Montero na ang police car natin

There's not much that puts one different from the other and most of your criteria can fall into personal preference, especially the ride comfort, interior and looks.

Sabi mo before kaya ayaw mo nung Montero kasi ang pangit nung tail light.

Blue power. I also though of Toyota entry pero no leather seats, no reverse camera, no esc, hillstart assist, 17 rims lang, smaller act touchscreen, no folding side mirrors, no drl, no led lights from and back, may plastic trim sa wheel arc na madaling mamuti in time, 3rd row doesn't folds flat ( I hate seats na nag fold sa sides kasi kelangan mo pa umakyat at times just to collapse it and also since kita ng mga ka opisina mo na gamol makisabay gawin ka schoolbus. My other cars talaga tinatago ko 3rd row.

    .
what are the chances that, when they pull it over, they'll find a lawyer or a doctor, or someone "influential", behind the wheel?

recently lang, I have seen one brand new Land Cruiser 200 make a u-turn from Meralco Ave. to Ayala the 30th, akmang haharangin na ng MMDA, biglang bumalik sa pwesto.

so andun ang sagot dapat isang tingen pa lang, medyo nag-kunwari kuno yun MMDA hindi nya nakita. big mid size vehicles seem to enjoy this pero not all the time. kasi Ive experienced this na before with 2 of my ageing midsize cars, minsa nga mapsa pa nga nag-wrong turn ako sa u-turn dyan sa pasong tamo.

the montero seems elegant looking at the front pero pag ganyan na police car lang nila. the police tend to downplay their issued vehicles from the goverment thinking na lagi sila tinitipid ng mga mataas sa pwesto so yan ang maging consensus ng mga policemen in the long run sa Montero. It's just a cheap vehicle coz the government / municipality could afford it. tapos eto donated pa.

case in point sa States, sobrang dini-diss ng border police or state police ang standard issue nila na Ford Explorer, not knowing in this part of the world, eh sold as semi luxury car na yan dito satin

    Engine Performance
    Interior
    Exterior
    Maintenance
    Resale Value after 10 yrs

    • Engine Performance -- I would give the edge to the Montero
    • Interior -- Montero, the price savings can also be used to upgrade the HU and speakers
    • Exterior -- I prefer the looks of the Fort, particularly the back
    • Maintenance -- Toyota gets the edge here
    • Resale Value after 10 yrs -- Toyota, definitely
    • Do note that the Montero is a more comfy ride and a better tranny

It's pretty close but I would get the Montero Sport because of the discount and the better engine+ride.

The same effort to print out and stick those stickers could have been used to put the car up for sale on some website...

I doubt they'd get any sympathy from any dealership/brand.
