September 1st, 2012 12:05 PM #1Good day! I'm new to cars. Just learned how to drive recently. I'm more of motorcycle kind of guy. I've been asking my friends with cars and been reading around the forums for awhile for tips and suggestions. So now, I'm planning to own my first car ever, budget is limited though, around 300K only. The car will be used as everyday ride. Primary concern is comfort and fuel consumption and low maintenance. My mom will be riding the car from time to time [trips to hospitals for check-ups and service during church functions] so it's a plus if it's easy to embark. Yung tipong pwede ring sana pang out of town/long drive during weekends or holidays. Least of concern is the swag factor, yung pwede pa ring pangporma or gimmick, but it's a bonus kung may pasok sa budget. Any suggestion? TIA!

Sir, suggest ko po Toyota Vios. With your budget, Gen. 1 lang sir yung pwede tapos E or J for newer ones then G for older ones.
Hindi po ako sure kung pasok to sa long drives at out of town.
Hintay nalang din tayo sir para sa ibang suggestions :D
EDIT:
Sir, Pwede din Honda Civic.

September 1st, 2012 12:39 PM #3Vios din for me. Matipid. Pasok lahat sa budget mo. Simple lang pero maayos. Pwede yun sa long drives. Ang ayaw ng karamihan, dahil common as taxi. Pero least priority mo naman yun so pasok pa rin

I'd suggest either a 2004 Honda Jazz 1.3 MT or a 2004 Toyota Vios 1.5G MT.
Both are selling for around 300k right now.

There's an existing thread about the best bang for the buck used car for 300k. I would not really consider sub-compacts (Vios, Jazz, City, etc.) as comfortable. The Jazz is the roomiest among them. A compact (like a Civic ES or Toyota Altis or Nissan Grandeur or Lancer Cedia) will be a better choice. If you want a car which is comfortable, with ample power, and good handling (not to mention maporma din), then a midsize car is your best bet. Midsize cars are priced lower compared to compacts and sub-compacts due to their fuel consumption but they have much better features.

September 3rd, 2012 04:56 PM #8Good day!
Thanks sa suggestions. I don't mind about VIOS being used as Taxi, sa probinsya naman kami. :D
A friend's friend offered his Vios 1.3J M/T 2006 for 250K, pero nakakita din ako ng 2nd Hand Vios 1.5G M/T 2006 na 60K Odo lang na pasok sa budget. I'll just have to schedule for viewing and test drive.
However I'm still looking around for other brand and models like the Honda's Civic and City.
Thanks again!

September 3rd, 2012 05:44 PM #9Saang probinsya kayo bro? Matraffic ba lagi diyan? If not, since comfort is high up your list, you can consider a midsize sedan. A 6th gen Accord 2.0 VTEC M/T should be reasonably fuel efficient and immensely comfortable. Nung panahon na buntis ang nanay ko ang bunso namin, 1997 Accord ang kotse namin (1 generation older than the 6th gen Accord). OK na OK daw ang ride comfort at hindi siya nahilo o nagustuhang sumuka kahit kailan.
If you want something even more economical, you can consider the ZZ Altis or the ES Civic.

I want my very 1st ride to be M/T sana.
*GTi
Pampanga lang kami sir. Traffic is okay lang naman.
As of now I am down to these two cars:
2006 Vios 1.5G M/T, 70K Odo * Php 330T
2007 City IDSI M/T, 48K Odo * Php 300T
Both cars seems to be okay but which do you think is a better deal?
This is an unfortunate situation
