pwde nman hiramin mo nlang yung civic or pajero (pa shift2x kapa.) at itago mo nlang 800k mo sa banko at after 3 or 2 years ka nlang bumili ng bagong ideal na kotseng gusto mo.

    wow rich boy ka ha.

if you really must get a new car, get a large one. i remember when i was a freshman in college i had my own car (hand-me-down din) but i preferred to use my mom's SUV (Montero) or minivan. ikaw kasi ang life of the party, hehe.

yes, i guess it's irritating to be the "school bus", and it's harder to drive a big vehicle if you're not an experienced driver yet, pero patok na patok ka for gimiks, out of town trips, and generally doing stupid/fun things after class. there's certainly plenty of opportunity to be around chicks...of course you never know if they like you or your car :evillaugh

wow 800k for a 17 yr old??? rich kid ka pala.

at whiz kid pa! manila science then ateneo wow!

for a 17 yr old, you can invest in a biz wherein a lot of teenagers invest into nowadays, internet cafe

my advice, since you have more than 4 cars ata na na-mention mo, hire a driver. it's cheaper and your parents will have extra 800k - driver's salary to spare. hehehe

I also agree with basti.

But I wouldn't wish the RS on a new driver. The clutch is not the most communicative, and you need some experience with it to be smooth... not something you want to think about in Ateneo traffic. It's a wonderful Tagaytay or Baguio car, though. Also, it's very painful to get dings and dents on something so pretty... *sigh*... just ask me... I have so many, I've stopped giving them names.

Actually, in your situation, the best bet would be to buy a new car for your mom or brother, and use the EK.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

use the civic and ask your parents to put the 800k in a time deposit, sure yan dami kang bangga and dents, sayang lang if you buy a new car bagong driver ka palang laspag agad yung bago mu, wait after driving for 2 years or exacto sa grad day mu then get your time deposit and get a new car plus you'd be mature enough to have a sense of value thus prolonging the life of your vehicle

sakin ganun nangyari kawawa first car ku, got it when i was still in high school ayun driver po aku ng bayan tapos puro bangga dahil baguhan pa magdrive

easy ka lang at baka mayabang ng dating mo kung bago auto mo at freshman ka palang .. i would suggest using public transportation and just use a car occassionally during your first 2 years .. sobrang alaskado yung mga kakilala kong hindi marunong mag-commute .. hanggang ngayon alaskado pa rin sila ..

Public Transportation? No!!! Already done that for the past 2 years as a sophomore, junior and my first half as a senior... I'm already sick and tired in daily commute especially in Jeepneys and Tricycles... Even though we have enough cars to make HATID-SUNDO, I opted to try to commute from Quesci to our home(which is close to Tandang Sora-Commonwealth)... But now I am now HATID-SUNDO so I will be less stressed and less dirty...

And also my kuya and I were already promised to be given cars in our 17 year b-day... I remember back then he bought a 4 year old LANCER GSR... But now I feel a little bit cheated when I expect to drive a 7 year old car...

So I need your help and please keep posting... THANKS!!!

at least it's not a 17 year old, ka-age mo, car sorry cant help it hehehe

kidding aside, dont feel cheated and wag ka magtampo sa parents mo. when I was in HS, I dreamed of having a car just like my other schoolmates.
My dad told me na dapat mag-kotse lang ako kapag college na coz may isip na ako by then, I can drive responsibly.

college Freshman year and 3 years later, I asked my dad again kung kelan nya ako bibilhan ng kotse, sabi niya pag-igihin ko daw ang pag-aaral ko at bibigyan nya ako ng kotse sa graduation ko.

graduation and 1 &1/2 years Makati first-job later, I am able to borrow his back-up Suzuki car during Fridays and Saturdays , fridays for office gimicks and saturdays for gf gimicks hehehe

then the day came, when my dad bought his 3rd car. you know what he did? he gave me his old car, and he gave his oldest car to my younger brother who was just entering college. I felt so betrayed. my kid brother was failing all his grades in HS and barely made to it college (after several dinners with family of college administrator, hehehe)

since then, i promised myself to prove something to them (my parents and my brother) one day. and I bought my very first car six years after graduation. and instead of feeling vindicated, I felt something more - will not elaborate anymore but i'm sure you'll experience this when you buy your first ....

btw, my brod is 25 years old now and hasnt earned a single P100 bill ... he's a bum.

mukang matalino ka naman coz you are from Manila Science going to ateneo, dont fall sa trap sa sobrang materyal na bagay, enhance your mind. these things: cars, expensive gadgets etc ... it will only weaken you at that age. well, I guess that's the best Adult Supervision I can give to you

OT lang. IMHO (payong-kuya), I think you need to raise your EQ up a bit. Maybe a notch or two. You don't have to feel cheated driving a 7 year old car. A new car is not the be all and end all of turning 17. Heck, my first car was even older than me! I know how excited you must feel, having your first car, driving on your own, etc. But the excitement lasts only so long.

If the car you want is above your budget, then don't blow Php 800k on something you don't really like or have no affection for. Hindi biro ang Php 800k like what I said earlier. Don't spend it just for the sake of spending it.

For a newbie, something inexpensive, safe and reliable is good enough already. No need to be fancy. My first brand new car was a '98 Kia Besta EST 2.2 (SRP Php 399K). What could be more un-fancy than that? As what the Tsikoteers as said, you still have a long way to go as a newbie driver. You will have your share of fender benders, crashes, parking mishaps, etc. Most of your existing vehicles can fill this role while you wait (and sharpen up your skills) for your 'dream car'.

Btw, I locate cars for during my spare time. Pasalamat ka at Php 800k ang budget mo. Sometimes I only have around Php 300K to work with (got the '95 Vitara). The most recent one Php 140k lang ang working budget ko (supposed to be for an '82 MB 300D, however deal did not push through kaya pinang-20% down na lang namin sa Picanto).

Consider yourself lucky, consider yourself blessed.

when i was in college, naka BMW ako.. Bus Mrt at Walk hehehe

After college I was fortunate enought to have had my family buy a car for my use. I just now bought my first car (with my own money--kakaiba feeling ng accomplishment).

Isipin mo nlang na whatever brand new car you buy now wont be brand new by the time you graduate, so you're better off using the civic (this way may transpo ka pa) and

    1) Investing the money (risky but possible returns)

    2) Putting the money into your personal account (safe but small returns)

    3) Use the 800K for parties galore while in college! heheh thats 200K/year. sikat na sikat ka nyan hehe

    4) Use the 400k to rent a kick-ass pad near admu... party all day and night ka rin nyan with the extra 400K hehe

if you really want a car:

    5) get the civic.. 800K worth of mods.. (whoa)

    6) Holding off buying the car and buy a new one when you graduate (unless youre getting another one as a graduation gift-then you can compound the 2 gifts into one Php 1.6M or higher car) this way you get a brand new car when you graduate either way

I'm a 18 year old person, and I drive a van. It's our cargo hauler for the family, but it can also haul a lot of friends too. I don't own it, but I've been through hard convincing for my parents to let me use it.

But since I'm just 3kms away from a convenient train station on my way to my school (from Marikina to DLSU), I rather go commute than bring a car. Commute is cheaper by twofold than driving a car, it's faster by 10-20 minutes (and consistent since you're on the train) and less stress overall.

But if I was 17 like you with lots of money, I would find myself a stock Lancer Evolution 5 or 6. Looking for a brand new vehicle? I would ask my rich parents to buy me a Ford Focus Sport 2.0L
