The vios 1.3E have no multi information display. While the Rio have multi info display. Rio's multi information display informs you on fuel consumption per liter and informs you when to shift the next the gear which I exploit to save fuel. The Vios is more fuel economical because it has smaller body and engine but my Rio can manage also 11 kpl on city and 16-18 kpl on high ways it all depends on your driving habit.

The Rio 1.2 is actually better in all ways than a Vios 1.3, except maybe for economy... but it's not a gas guzzler, at least.

The Mazda2 1.3 is better than either car... except for the issue of rear seat space.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Love your own, syempre Vios ako.

Same engine lang sila WIK.

Eto from a Vios 1.3e owner, 1.8k palang ODO nung akin so the FC is not really the best one yet. Usually after 5k pa lalabas yung pagkatipid talga, as others hve claimed.

    Anyway, manual computation everything.

    City driving muna...

Everyday EDSA rush hour traffic, worst I got was 8.2km/L if I'm not mistaken. Best was around 10.2km/L.

Moderate traffic, usual urban traffic pero not as harsh as edsa, best I got was 11.2km/L

    Sunday light traffic, 12-13km/L

    ---

Highway best ko is 18.5km/L. Avg speed 110-140kph.

Someone got a 22km/L before at an avg speed of 80-90kph.

Turn between vios 1.3e and Rio Sedan 1.4mt last May. I end up buying the Rio.
    > Both have almost the same price but the I find the Vios too small while the Rio have almost the same size as the Corolla Alltis and Civics.
    > Rio 6 speed and 5 years warranty while the Vios has only 3 years warranty.
    > 2012 Rio a global car was designed in California by the legendary multi-warded German car designer Peter Schreyer with 4.5/5 stars crash test rating in US and Europe while the Vios was designed in Thailand for asian markets where cars and road safety Laws are not too harsh. 2012 Vios is just a facelift ever since it was released last 2003.

    > After discounts, it won't be the same as the Rio. IIRC, 10k lang discount ng Rio when I asked before then for the Vios it's ~60-70k off.

    > Yes, the Rio's seats are much spacious than the Vios but it's not as spacious as the Civic/Corolla. Maybe as big as the 9th gen, but not the 10th gen Corolla. Family has the Civic and I've been to several 10th gens already and the Rio doesn't feel as big.

    > Rio 6 speed and 5 years warranty while the Vios has only 3 years warranty.
Dagdag pahirap lang yung 5 years warranty coz that means 5 years of going in and out of CASA for PMS. If you have it serviced outside, bye bye warranty.

One plus for the Vios as well is being a common car. Your average backyard joe will be most likely familiar with the 2NZ-FE if ever you need a helping hand for some repairs, if any

Not familiar with crash tests but if this were true, then that's a plus as well for the Rio.

Another thing is, interior-design wise, 1.4MT vs. 1.3E MT or kahit 1.5G, mas maganda interior ng Rio no doubt

sa tipid talaga panalo yan vios eh.. kung ma improve pa ng kia yung program ng ecu nila to adopt sa philippine setting no doubt the rio is the winner...

sa handling naman di ko alam sa rio pero sa vios, may tendency na mag fish tail yan sa sudden brake...

siguro nga mababa ang crash rating ng vios...

If you know your car so well, you don't need a gadget that would tell you when to shift.

Yes the 1.3L has no MID and power side mirrors as well. Those two are good to haves but not really much of an importance for me.

11km/l for the Rio is possible, but then, at those conditions the Vios can probably top up at already 13km/L.

By the way, the 1NZFE (1.5L) Vios can do 11-12 on the city as well

Sorry to stress out but the only Rio i'll get if I have to are MT units. The 1.4L AT really consumes fuel crazily esp. The hatchback.

Hmm wala nang Vios E right? So this is between the Rio 1.4 EX and Vios 1.3G, both in MT form?

Well either way, the Rio wins for me.

    - More powerful engine. It must be said though that the Vios 1.3 feels just as punchy at low speeds.
    - 6-speed MT which could pay off on highway cruising
    - Variable intermittent wipers (minor, but useful nonetheless)
    - Split-folding rear seats (very useful when it comes to loading big stuff)
    - USB input
    - More passenger room
    - Larger trunk
    - Better interior and exterior. The Vios just looks so pedestrian, even if you take out all the Vios taxis roaming around, the car still fails to catch my eye. Only the pre-facelift 1.5G in grey looks great to me, but that variant has been discontinued.

Admittedly, when it comes to reliability and fuel efficiency, the Vios just pummels the Rio. But I'd be willing to trade a few km/L in exchange for a car that I'll be happier to drive day in and day out.

If fuel efficiency is the top priority, I'd get a Mazda 2 1.3S hatchback. Actually, overall I find the Mz2 1.3 S a more compelling car than either the Rio 1.4 EX or Vios 1.3 G.

Since EPS na rin naman ang usapan, the Rio's EPS is excessively light. It might be to the liking of some, but not me. I thought the Altis' EPS was as light as it gets, but the Rio's really something you can turn with a simple twirl of your pinky.

YAP.... The Rio EPS is very light when the vehicle is on the stand still only. I was afraid first when I start its engine inside the show room then turn the steering wheel and was puzzled its extremely light, then my agent smiled and told me it would put on little resistance as soon the vehicle start moving. Which was true as observed during my test drive.

The Vios has EPS as well so no need to include that one since jut is pointing out the advantages of the Rio.
