Hi there! though, it's a bit off topic and there are lots of threads w/c concerns your inquiry, here goes:
Pro(s):
Probably the next bench mark for compact sedan today.
Power? Both the 1.8V/S or 2.0S/S-L boasts enough Hp and torque to tackle all different kinds of situation (daily drive or spirited/fun) and demolish any ricer(racer wannabes) on the road.
Looks, two years ago, the civic's was being questioned and/or hardly acceptable by people. Today, it's one of the most striking and appreciated design there is. FYI, you can/may even put 20 inch mags on your civic and still run on it (though not practical). There are lots of nice bodykit available almost anywhere, even the casa provided Modulo kits are pretty. May it be JDM (yo!), USDM or EuDM, different looks will never dissapoint you. Or just go stock and clean all the way, it still looks cool. (get the red one!)
Cockpit. Yes you saw it right, Cockpit. The civic's panels and gauges were intentionally designed to imitate of that a jet fighter plane with all the digital instrumentations (w/c really work) and panels. Although, for first time drivers (if you are), may need a little bit of adjustment since you will never see your hood up front. It's effective trust me, there are lots of female drivers out there and nobody is complaining (yet). I even saw a grandma drove her civic in one of my trips to my dealership for servicing.
Comfort. Today, The Civic boasts class leading cabin space which usually is comparable to luxury level (almost). The suspension can/may deal with most of the road conditions (depending on the current status of the civic, setup or not).
Fuel Economy, well, on my personal experience, I have to say, expect compact sedan FC (don't compare Compact to Sub compact, it's on a different league and philosophy). The Civic boasts Fuel Efficiency with its 1.8 R18 i-VTEC SOHC engine which delivers near to 1.5 sub-compact car level FC, Tested and proven specially on Highway trips.
Entertainment. The civic has pretty decent Audio system that will make you happy, Just don't expect audiophile level audio setups (aftermarket) with those SQs and SPLs.
Safety. The FD Civic have SRS (airbags, both front driver and passenger for S models up), 3 channel digital controlled ABS (anti-lock Braking system) and a LSD (Limited Slip Differential), and passed Collision standards abroad.
Resale value, the Filipino market tends to go biased on Honda Brands, so expect it to be still high after 5-7 years.
Well that's it. That's an overview of what a civic is on text. I'll also suggest as sir niky said previously that a test drive is the go. But on this comparison, Get the Mazda3 if you don't mind the fuel consumption, that's all there is to it.
Good day!
