Field Masters only go for about 600K to 750K as per current trend in buy n sell prices.

I will choose this anytime. There's something in this Pajero that makes me think it's always a best buy. Well, the turbo diesel 2800 4D56 engine is underpowered only if you're a throttle-happy man or an overloader. Oh wait, this one's matic??? (PS: Been an SA at Mitsubishi and I've driven one)

My uncle has one. Forget about the VVT-i that underpowers it, this is still a (real) gaz guzzler.

At first I thought you we're looking at something Japanese, big and diesel-fed, which takes the Fort out of the list. Among the choices, I'll go with the Field Master but won't pay over 700K.

    Oh that. Yeah good choice.

But you have way other options if you don't limit choices on the four mentioned above.

I'm not sure about the Patrol... was the 2001 already crdi? If so... forget it... unless you have money for injectors. CRDi Patrols have injector issues due to our fuel quality, especially if there are many kilometers on the odometer.

The Alterra... not quite sure... but it's also a CRDi... it will have to depend on the mileage and actual condition.

(I mention this because CRDi injectors cost between 80-150k a set)

The Fieldmaster is a solid choice. Old school turbodiesel, solid body. Relatively tough. There were some issues with the Pajero during the Mitsubishi cover-up scandal, but newer units are relatively robust.

The Fortuner VVTi: depends... if you're buying this as a family car... no... as a solo car... go ahead. Strong engine, great handling compared to all your other choices... only issue is the ride is pretty harsh... and the fuel economy is pretty bad (it being a gasoline vehicle).

There are a ton of cars out there to choose from... If you've got 900k to play with, you might want to consider even going brand new or getting a one or two year old unit with some warranty left for a little more. A 1-2 year old unit is the optimum for buying secondhand... the unit will have already lost a big chunk of its value, and it'll depreciate slowly after that.

If you can add just 100k and get an 08 Fort that still has two to three years worth of warranty, why not go for that?

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

    Hyundai Starex

It will take some dirt/gravel roads with no complains. Just no water forging. :D

Hmmm... hard choice really if i were in your shoes as the options are wanting.

    I never liked the Alterra.
The Pajero FM is just old and overpriced at 900K.
The Fort is a gas unit
Patrol is an '01 model so expect repairs to come your way.

Given those choices i may get the Pajero 4M40 but the price should be negotiated.

If you can get one at a lower price and lower mileage. Mga 700K. Tapos 200K use it for repairs and upgrades.

Why Patrol? It's not wimpy. Matibay. Malaki. At dahil diesel, mas matibay engine build.

If you want a pretty car (which the rest are!) then you might as well save a few more money and get a brand new petrol Tucson.

Try checking out the Manila Bulletin Classifieds on a Sunday. Lots of choices there. Ingat lang sa bahang unit.

Another good option is the Everest.

Buy and Sell always has a bunch of SUVs in the "For Sale" section... honestly... not too hard to find a secondhand Fortuner... they're everywhere.

actually nag surf na ako in the internet and those four SUV got my attention and I want to limit my budget to 900k below because i don't think its wise to buy more than that, kasi after 1 month it will sit on the garage waiting for me for another year to be use, of course somebody will take care when i'm gone and use sometime as an alternative
