hi guys. im planning to buy a bnew car. budget is below 1M.

    My Choices:
Ford Focus 2013, Chevy Cruze, Elantra, Mazda 3 & Honda Civic.

i heard sa mga friends ko mahal daw parts ng chevy & sobrang tagal ng parts dumating. Sa Ford naman i heard & my friend told me (ngwowork dati sa ford) sobrang mahal parts ng Ford, as in parang 2x price compare sa honda. Elantra naman, parang madaling masira? not sure. Honda Civic naman concern ko lang is yung Design, muka kaseng pang matanda or pang tatay compare sa previous civic. Sa mazda naman my friend told me mejo madaling masira Aircon ng previous mazda 3. Any Feedback sa new mazda 3?

Malayo ba talaga price ng parts ng Ford compare sa Chevy & Honda? hehe..

    my concern is
#1. Maintenance cost (parts & etc).
#2. Design (gusto ko kase yung mukang bago, fresh looking)
    #3. FC.
    #4. Excellent interior and features.

thanks you very much in advance.

If you're buying now, I'd suggest you go for the Elantra 1.8 GLS (958k).

If you can wait, a new Altis is coming out in the next few months.

^^ I always wonder why the Lancer is most of the time out of the equation when it comes to choices like this.

Korean cars have very much turned-around ever since 2000s. I'll treat the two Korean giants - Hyundai and Kia (actually, both of them are under Hyundai's corporate umbrella) very much like how most people have come to respect Samsung and LG in the flat panel industry.

The Ford's harder to get parts then the rest. But it still shouldn't be too hard.

Honda is also currently wanting to re-design the existing Civic FB thanks to its general "bad" press to the company. It's a walking testament on how Honda is settling for leniency and lazing it out rather than using their engineering to create better cars (the FD, however, was very well received).

As for the Mazda3, I've not much received complaints regarding it. It's not madaling masira naman.. but thanks to its gearing ratio and the relative underpowered engine, it sucks gas much more than its peers.

Dad ko kase sinasabi baka madaling masira. pero gusto ko rin talaga Elantra. hahaha!

about sa honda civic ayaw ko lang talaga yung design. & i saw na merong New Civic sa US. matatagalan pa ata dumating yung new civic dito sa pinas. T_T

sa Ford naman concern ko lang is sobra daw mahal ng parts. yun lng talaga nagpapaturn off sakin sa ford. >.< pero if hindi naman nagkakalaro price range ng honda parts & ford parts ill go with the Ford Focus.

Your best bet is to wait for the new Toyota Altis. A generational change usually brings in a fresher design and subsequent "facelifts" build upon that which makes the car age more gracefully. Think about the older 2002 Altis or the 2002 Honda CRVs, when properly maintained, you won't say it's old at all!

How long do you intend on keeping the car? Mazda's offering free maintenance & parts for 3 years, although for 60 kms only, if it comes first.

#1. Maintenance cost (parts & etc).
    - same lang lahat kasi puro bnew naman (you only do pms, change oil)

#2. Design (gusto ko kase yung mukang bago, fresh looking):
    - Elantra
    - Focus
    - Civic

    #3. FC
    - Civic 1.8s MS - 9-10 kms/liter city driving
    - No idea sa iba

    #4. Excellent interior and features
    - Focus
    - Civic
    - Elantra

Wait for the new Altis. Call me lame, call me tame, call me boring. But at the end of the day, Toyota's still rule here in the Phil.

And they're easy on the pocket too. (maintenance wise)

    *melchan:
Civic (FD): regular pms schedule charges (using fully synthetic oil) - 4-6Kphp
Ford (Everest): 5-7kphp per pms (change oil using mineral oil)
Almost the same considering the larger amount of oil used for the Everest. Both are bnew when bought.

I share the same sentiments. They may never be exciting cars but they always bring in the balance. Signs of ageing indeed!

TS, why did you not consider the Toyota Altis? I'd pick that.

for the altis kase parang normal car lang for me. im looking rin kase yung fun to drive factor & yung may dating, tipong mejo head turner. pero im kinda considering na rin altis. ganda rin ng lalabas na altis. kaya sana lumabas na! hindi ko lang masyado gusto yung interior.
grabe hirap mgdecide. buti nalang may forums na ganito & mga taong masipag magreply. thank you. hehe..
