Medyo mababa nga yung seatback. Parang di abot sa batok yung back rest.

I own a current gen Pajero and it is a really good SUV for a family of 5. Nice interior and features, good ride. It won win anybdrag race with other SUV's but the power wont disappoint you. Just remember this vehicle was not designed for outright speed.

With your criteria, the Pajero is not a good choice because the 3rd row is only good for short drives or for emergency use. Its more like jumpseats and are not really that comfortable.

With 6 pax riding the car, i suggest tou get a bigger SUV and maybe the explorer is a better choice or even the cx 9 for that matter. Space should be a big factor and if not an SUV why not look for an alternative such as a MPV like a ln Alphard, Oddessy or a Starex?

Best luxury under 3m? Get an Alphard.

After our test drive, two uncles bought Alphards. The V6 is unmatched for second and third row passenger comfort, and economy is actually better than V6 SUVs.

But sir niky isn't the alphard's luxuriousness best experience when riden and not driven i mean dapat may chauffer. my father is already 48years old so gusto sana namen is ma-enjoy naman nya yung pinaghirapan nya (no bragging), kaya pag nag-alphard sya baka magmukha syang driver. Pero i read your review of the alphard, a very good car indeed. But unfortunately my family will not consider. So, among the three which is the most powerful?

Between the 3, I would cross out the Santa Fe because of the cramped 3rd row. Apparently, same with the Pajero because of the 3rd row. The Explorer really got my attention when it first came in, but the Ecoboost has pretty limited features/accessories compared to the Limited. For the price vs features, consider the Limited.

Choosing other than the 3, I think the Mazda CX9 is a good contender. You get the space for 7, 272 bhp, comfortable ride, and I would say exclusivity because it's not common. Fuel consumption, well it's as thirsty as the Explorer. Might be a bit thirstier than the Ecoboost, but not by much. Ecoboost is not that frugal. Mazda has some crazy discounts nowadays because they're selling off their inventory to make way for the facelifted CX9. But the current one is nothing to be ashamed of. Mas pogi pa din siya, IMO.

The Alphard drives very well, and is narrower than the Explorer or Santa Fe, so it's easier to drive. Fun, too, thanks to the handling and power.

If it's an SUV, hard to beat the Explorer V6. the CX9 drives better and feels more special from the driver's seat, but is thirstier. While it lacks the Explorer's toys, it has a more "European" feel to it. Definitely the "sports car" amongst big seven seaters.

My CX9 is doing better than 6km per liter on city driving (Mandaluyong, Taguig, Makati, Manila). The latest release (2012/2013) has better FC than earlier CX9 (2007-2011). On highway, 9-10 km/liter.

How is the FC of Explorer?

Depends on how it's driven. In my experience, at 90 kmh, the CX9 can eke out 10, the Explorer can do maybe 12. The Explorer 2.0T can do maybe 12-14 in the same conditions. Driven at 100 plus, they're all around 9-10.

Not that the diesels are all that great. The Veracruz is about the same as the Explorer V6 on the highway.

Agree with this, however, in Metro Manila traffic and using the vehilce as an everyday car...... gas consumption will eat away a significant portion of the budget. Not unless the threadstarter uses the vehicle in highways and as a weekend family car only, diesel engines will have its benefit. Otherwise, either the CX9 or Explorer is a good buy.

I would like to ask the threadstarter how many kilometers does your everyday vehicle log in a month? If on average, about a 1,000 kms per month, then if you use the Explorer with consumption of about 4-5Kms/L with gas prices let's say at 50php a liter, then that would translate to gas consumption of about 12500 a month. If that amount is ok with you, then by no means get the Explorer or the CX9. Otherwise, get a diesel engine with decent mileage that will slash your budget by half.

If you don't need some hardcore off-road ability that would be better suited with a Pajero, get the Santa Fe.

With great performance comes greater fuel consumption... At least diesel is p10 less per L.

Based on your inclinations, I think its down to the explorer or cx9. Both are good SUVs and will fit your needs. Personally, not everyday cars though, as it will eat a significant part of your budget for gas... unless puro hi-way daan mo.

BTW, just curious, why the 4x2 santa fe and not the 4x4? At 2.28M, more features and price is nearer to the explorer or pajero.

For 1.7m, the santa fe isnt cheap as compared to the competition but is considerable, but at 2.28m i wont spend my money on something that i can buy for 1.8m that is already Imho is Overpriced minus some of the "luxurious" features.

Setting aside fuel economy the explorer is better than the santa fe in all aspects. Im just wondering on why hyundai priced the santa fe that way.

I would consider the 4x2 Santa Fe, but at 2.28m, parang sobra na yung 4x4. The Santa Fe is a nice five seater, but the third row is nowhere near as spacious as in the Explorer or CX9.

Yup, Santa Fe's 3rd row is the factor. So even its 4x4 guise with more goodies has the same handicap.

*eq not bad thanks for the input.(for a huge truck body that is)

drop the hyundai and add the cx9 vs pajero vs explorer - they're all in the same league.

i would be watching and taking note of this thread by the way waht's the fuel(diesel) consumption of the pajero bk?

*eq, sorry but i used it in a layman's term and not in its strict sense, so no chasis for this one since it's a monocoque?

pero okay naman ang pajero bk? yan kasi pinapipilian namin explorer v pajero bk(the only diesel) v prado

but leaning towards the explorer since it looks like the gas consumption is not that bad compared to the old gas guzzler of ford and other u.s. brands
panalo lang ng pajero is the diesel engine.
