A friend of mine is asking what would be the better choice kasi halos parehas lang price nila. Based on what i've read dito and sa reviews ng FJ is masikip, gasoline engine, suicide rear doors etc etc. pero parang sobrang ok kasi yun pricing ng toyota sa FJ even though its a 'bare" unit compared sa gray market units. Kala ko magmumura yun FJ na gray market pero parehas pa din price so malamang mataas din yun residual value ng locally distributed na FJ in case ibebenta mo na in the future.
Sa fort naman its 4 wheel drive also yun lang nga 7 seater na diesel engine and mas abundant yun parts nito sa labas.Resale of the fort is solid. Ano sa tingin nyo? kung ako ok na sakin yun fort na 2.5V 1.490M hehe or kahit yun 2.5g A/T at 1.360M meron pa ata discount yun. 4x2 kasi has less wear and tear tapos malamang better FC kasi 2wd lang and lighter yun engine ng 2.5 vs3.0. BTW daily driver gagamitin yun car with occasional out of town trips(2 kids).

Daily driver? Cross out the FJ. If he can afford it, go all the way with the 3.0 by all means There's no replacement for displacement and it may give better low-end grunt versus the 2.5.

On a side note, in spite of its age, the Fortuner seems to appeal to me lately.

ok pa din nga yun fort in spite of its age. i think it still looks better compared sa MS or even the TB. isip ko din hirap siguro park yun fj. parang ang lapad nya. daan ako minsan sa casa silipin ko nga

I have similar thoughts to what vinj posted. I'd stay away from the FJ. The Fort, whether the 2.5L or 3.0L, would provide better value for his money.

Whatever he saves by getting the lower end Fort can go to diesel or better accessories. But 3.0L should have the grunt advantage and might actually consume less fuel by having more power.

Per Boybi who almost bought an FJ (cancelled his order): Looks big outside but inside is cramped.

I agree; FC of the 3.0L and 2.5L will not be much different IMO.

I think malaki difference ng FC ng 2.5 and 3.0 Fort. When I used a 3.0 Fort for a few weeks, best I could get was 6 km/L in Makati traffic. The 2.5G of my friend does 8 km/L in similar conditions..

I would choose the 3.0 Fort, the FJ Cruiser is more of a trophy car than a daily drive. But if the friend has deep pockets for gas consumption why not. For city driving the smaller displacement would always fair better than a bigger displacement. For highway driving the bigger displacement would always have an advantage. A few added liters would be a bigger difference in the long run for me.

Same experience here. The Fort 3.0 does between 5-7 km/l in traffic. Anyone expecting it to be as economical as the 2.5 is going to be disappointed.

But there's fat chance you can get more than 3-5 km/l out of the FJ in the same traffic. Not with the 4.0 V6.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

You only live once, if I have the money then I'd go for the FJ. Kung issue kasi ang FC then buy a small car.

i dont think the fj's rear seat is as comfortable as a fortuner's. if this will be used as a daily driver and for long drives. fortuner is a better choice.

plus the fj just looks big outside but cramp inside.

fuel efficiency is a plus to fortuner also.

The Fortuner is obviously the practical choice, and shouldn't really be compared to the FJ, which is more of a toy.

I don't think anyone looks at the FJ and thinks, "Hmm this is a great daily drive - extremely thirsty, difficult to park, cramped and expensive"

They consider it because it looks good and is way more appealing than the ubiquitous Fortuner/Montero.

The FJ Cruiser is more interesting than the Fortuner, but guzzled more gas and has less interior space because it has a shorter wheelbase than the Fortuner.
I think your friend should check out both vehicles and see which one fits his needs/use.

If he's willing to pay for the higher fuel bills and thinks the stylish but smaller FJ Cruiser is good enough for him, then why not get it.

bibile na sana ako ng FJ Cruiser tapos eto na - discover ko

    - premium gas only para di magkaproblem later on as it ages sa fuel system
    - 4km/liter traffic sa America na to eh pano pa dito
    - liit windows sa side even sa rear nakaharang yun spare tire
    - no USB, no bluetooth, no touchscreen wala kahit ano electronic amenities
    - the dash instrument panel is so 2003 with analog digital display
    - the rear seats are so hard to use coz you have to open everything as well adjust front seats
    - not realy comfortable at long drives since it rides like the Jimny

haayz, i'm so undecided right now, kating kati na ako ulet, i have a car plan eh di ako makapili since May pa. I just ruled out the Montero Sport coz it's not SUV-like when it ages

mag MUX na lang kaya ako

Yan ang problema dahil nasanay ka na sa hightech na de-voice command ranger mo. Benta mo na ranger then back to old school love para di mo icompare at hanapin features.
