This car would be a replacement for my bk pajero. I have another fullsized suv which will serve the purpose of the explorer, but I just love those bells and whistles of the explorer, and of course, the riding comfort.

If I'll get the FJ, it would be used mainly for solo trips, weekends with the wife, and occasionally, off the road trips with friends.

Btw, can the second row seats of the FJ recline? How's the legroom?

The original FJ40 (from where the current "FJ" is derived) seated only two people in comfort, both driver and front seat passenger. The rear passengers were left by themselves to bounce around the place

So, its gonna be primarily a "Toy" 4x4? From what I understood above. I'll go for the FJ, I think there are a lot of off-road kits for it in the aftermarket scene already.

I think I should have asked: Which is more fun to drive?

the explorer drives like a sedan so it will be more fun to drive daily, while the fj cruiser drives like a truck but it is a serious off roader. so unless one of your hobbies is off roading then the explorer has a huge advantage over the fj. like everyone has already said the fj is more of a toy car than daily driven car.

    Welcome back Dr. wiretap.

Maganda nga Rubicon, a friend here has one. But it's out of the budget. Actually, the explorer would already stretch my budget as I'll just be using the proceeds from my recently sold Pajero.

Both cars (FJ and Explorer) won't be my daily drive. If I'll get the FJ, it would really be just a toy car for our occasional offroading. If I'll get the Explorer, definitely, I won't use it for offroad because of it's ground clearance and very low bumper. I would have already bought the Explorer when it was first sold here in the Philippines if not for the greediness of the dealers.

What happens pala if by accident, naunang naisara ang front doors tapos sinara din rear doors, may safety mechanism ba to prevent the rear doors from making a dent to the front doors?

Haha niky! Hmmm. Good question. I became an SUV Nut for some reason. The whole go anywhere, practicality, spaciousness of these SUVs just drew me in. But am really just waiting for the 2014 mustang.... Then i am all in! Hehe

O/t but i kinda modded my legacy to hit about 260 whp. Its freakingly fast that it actually scares me.

Ang liit pala ng FJ. Looks big outside, but cramped inside. Even the cargo space at the back, hindi pala ganun kalaki.

Looks can be deceiving. The original (kahon) FJ40 was also cramped, on both front and rear spaces. Baka the Japanese designers wanted continuity on the model irregularities kaya ganun. Hehe. :D
