    * TS..

Ive read a lot of good advise.

Just my take... save up some more and use that amount for a brandnew car instead. (doesn't matter if China, Korea, India made). Or if talagang hindi pa kaya get a newer model. What you are after is less headache because either way brandnew man yan or second hand there always be a cost associated to owning and maintaining a vehicle.

Alam mo yun feeling of regret that you threw your hard earned money away. 120-140k is no joke. Hence you need to put it in good use.

Your best bets in terms of parts availability:
    AE92
    Bigbody
    Lovelife

However you have to keep in mind that you will likely spend ATLEAST 20-30k to keep it in good running condition, and possibly another 10-20k for aesthetic repairs.

Kung 120-140k budget mo. I suggest na Toyota 1993-1997 Corolla bigbody. yung GLi variant na. All power amenities na yan. Marami pang piyesa. Surplus or brandnew. Hindi ka mahihirapan maghanap. 4afe engine para EFi na. Mas tipid yan kumpara sa 1.3L na 2e carb.
Usual na sakit - tagas sa power steering. Pero madali naman paayos yan. Saka resale value, hindi ganon kabilis bumaba. Hanap ka lang ng sariwa at kumpleto.

In my opinion... Get the esi. Very reliable engine and parts are easy.

Honda is honda. You get what you pay for. Kung porma at porma, meron.
Kung lakas ng makina, meron. Piyesa? If you really fancy a honda, here's a tip... yng pang ilalim ng 96-99 models (civic) share the same parts as the pizza pie lancer. So maintenance would be cheaper.

IMHO, get a big body corolla na EFI na MANUAL transmission. Mas madaling i maintain yan unlike yung matic. Or kung kaya pa, yng corolla lovelife na 1.3. From what I know, that was the first 1.3 engine to offer EFI.

Lovelife has no 1.3 efi engine, 2e engine padin sya like the ones na nakakabit sa bigbody.

boss, your budget of 140k, i would suggest push it up further, kahit 160 to 180k na,
with that budget, you could possibly buy a 1st gen picanto, newer, fresher than
your choices of 90s car, mas maliit nga lang, but still, 1st car owner ka, mas
okei na ito in the long run mas less sakit ng ulo.

upon looking sa online selling sites,
08 picanto is already the 2nd gen picanto,
    04 - 07 picanto would be the 1st gen.

if by the end of this year or early next year ka pa kukuha,
it will be much of help na ngayon palang maging lurker ka
na sa mga online selling sites, so that you may have a "feel"
and series ng kotse na gusto mo, so by the time na kukuha

First time I heard this. Any proof to this claim? As far as I know Mitsubishi and Honda didn't have any joint ventures.

We had an EK Civic before, my aunt had a pizza Lancer, and they never felt any bit similar. For one, the Civic had wishbone suspension, while the Lancer had MacPhersons. Dun pa lang iba na. What pang ilalim are you talking about specifically?

Ball joints, velocity shaft (or joints ?), trailing arms and almost all the bushings. It was the experienced mechanic of the gas station that pointed this out to me. Going back in time, parang yng brake system ng 123 body na benz and yng toyota crown. Interchangable yng parts but both companies never had a joint project during those times.

    Pa OT po mods:

My friend and I will be restoring a 1987 honda prelude (JDM converted) next year. Frankenstein yng pang ilalim nun, as in parts from kia carnival (i think gen 2), honda accord 1997 model, and honda accord 2000 model. That was before the engine conked out early this year. But it never gave us problems when we took it for a long drives. B20 engine po nya. Biggest problem now are the shock absorbers as in wala talagang makuha na kasukat. So, have to source it overseas

    OT:

Which parts of the brake system?

And what model year for the Toyota Crown?

maybe he's talking about the small pieces... the ends, ball joints, tie rods... and maybe he's refering to 555 pieces, not original branded pieces..
"boss, pahingi nga ng tie rod ends.. lancer.. kaliwa."
"heto pare.. ganyang ganyan din ang binibigay namin sa honda.. sintibay na ng orig..mura pa.."
    "talagah..!"

To the TS - if you don't have 200k to spend for the car, don't buy a 140k car. Chances are kakapusin ka lang sa repairs and other costs related to car ownership.

I was looking for 90s sedans a few weeks back.

If I had an AE101 in mint condition I wouldn't sell it for 140k. Probably 170k. Even then there might still be minor repairs. Better to have 200k liquid, tapos kung hindi maubos edi good but better safe than sorry.

And how about radiator, pag nagpaoverhaul nun and hoses how much po iyong estimate nun? Salamat!

i bought a brand new unit, and enjoyed it for 14 years.. good car. easy to maintain.. decent fuel efficiency (8-10 km/li in the city), and nice aircon.
poor resale value?... so what? you're a'buyin', ain't you? heh heh.
your problem is stumbling onto a unit still in good condition...

first to consider which brand which can give you younger model. for sure the option will be nissan sentra and mitsu lancer. dahil mababa resale value nila pero matibay. then look for stock car and no overheat history.
