Do ATVs Need Registration

Hi Guys,

I'm planning to buy an ATV, does it still need to be registered to be able to drive around town?

Good question, I've been wanting one as well, but I'm hesitant at baka impound ang abutin ng ATV. If you use in on public roads, it has to be registered AFAIK. Wala ata classification sa LTO ang ATV, or I stand corrected.

My grandfather import ATVs for almost 7 years now. There's no LTO classification for ATV, that's correct. It doesn't need registration. You can't use it in main roads. Which you don't have to anyway, because most ATV tires have limited traction on paved roads.

AFAIK, with in subdivision or basically off road, no need to register. I beleive even using it in the provinces, even sa main road should not be a problem. I see it roaming around the streets of Boracay , for hire pa.

But dito sa Manila or surrounding provinces of the Metro, takaw huli sa mga TE or MMDA source of kotong.

If you are going to use it within the city. I suggest you get an ATV with paved road friendly tires. There are some available sports tires for ATVs like this.

Who would want to drive an ATV in EDSA anyway? :grin2: :bike:

i do not know. certainly, you would need safety equipment like headlights, signal lights, brake lights..
but if motorcycles and scooters need to be properly registered if it were to run on public roads, i suppose your atv, which can be interpreted as two motorcycles welded side by side, should also be... provided they have the requisite headlights, tail lights, signal lights..

Dito sa amin sa bulacan di naman sinisita ng mga enforcer...napapa wow pa nga pag dumadaan ako even the national road..meron ako 2 unit yung isa sa misis ko..perfect na pamalengke..
