base on your criteria/preferences i'll choose the corolla. very easy to maintain, daming parts (original/replacement) available and fuel effecient also. IMO all japanese car are at par when it comes to durability/ reliability, depende na ito sa owner kung papano nya ito aalagaan.

Although very generic na ang Corolla, still COROLLA. Best buy for your money.

corolla and civic vti would be good choices...

one major negative point if you do choose the corolla, the AE111 type (97-00) model has very cramped rear legroom space. If you plan to use this car as a family car, you might consider other options like the OLDER AE101 model corolla. If you plan to drive by yourself most of the time, then rear legroom shouldn't be part of your considerations.

i agree with ghosthunter, cramped ang legroom sa backseat ng corolla compared sa civic. pero maintenance-wise, mas makakatipid ka sa corolla. i go for civic.

Gas guzzler ang Exsior with its 2.0 engine.

Not really... we're getting around 7+ km/L with our Exsior a/t; it's around 1-2 km/L off from most 1.6L a/t sedans of it's generation and with this you get better power from a 2.0 and more space. A good alternative if you like driving out of town with your family.

Don't forget to budget around 20-50K for repairs on a 2nd hand car.

Kung solo car, i'd also look at a Corolla AE111 amongst your choices...

kinda comparing apples & oranges here...

Corona Exsior is a big 4 door entry level luxury sedan with a 2.0L engine.
Lancer GSR is a compact 2 door sporty car with a 1.6L engine.

The corona will guzzle gas if you are stuck in crawling traffic most of the time. The good point of this car is it has a good ride quality and spacious interior.

The Lancer GSR is a pain if you need to use the rear seats often and the performance is about the same as the four door version.

    1. Civic VTi
    2. Corolla

Ito yung order of preference ko, given that comparable and maintenance nung dalawa.

I think ones choice depend somewhat kung ano priorities mo about the car. I like civic more since i know there are a lot of mods i can do with it (in the future pag may pera na ulit), rezing rezing minsan (when vtec kicks in, its just music to my ears), and a little more styling (subjective).

I like corolla din kasi like they say andami ng parts anywhere sa pinas, although madami na din mga replacement parts ng civic ngayon.

when you have narrowed down your choice, i suggest you try to drive each, kahit ano pa man yun, only then you will know which one talaga.

The Civic is sportier and more fun (spirited engine, suspension a perfect blend of ride and handling, slick shifter and very good driving position) but the Corolla is much easier to live with (cheap parts that are available everywhere, rock-solid suspension that's also easy to service).
