hmm .. I suggest that If you have time buy a C! magazine ,,, its not that I'm trying to promote the magazine but I find their articles very interesting and unbiased. As for their last issue, they compared an Altis 1.8G against a Lynx RS. Maybe their next issue might be a comparison of the 3 for these models are the only engines in their class which outputs above 140 HP.

I prefer either of the 2 (Altis or Civic 2.0) as long as their transmission is not automatic but manual :D

    OT:

just be careful of any magazines out there.

C! started out as an unbiased magazine... although lately, i've been seeing some hints of them being biased for some manufacturers.

like in the last C! 1.6L comparo - halatang peke yung bawat editor kanya kanyang pick ng different cars. sino ang niloko nila? dapat nag run sila ng objective and subjective tests - like what the US mags do.

visit motioncars.com too...those guys don't really pull their punches... pero they usually rate each car individually -- i.e. wala ung icocompare ung altis n civic explicitly.

    Better yet....test drive!

lynx ay targeted talaga for the asian (southeast asian?) market. it's the same platform as the mazda protege. ang counterpart ng lynx sa europe at states ay yung ford focus.

counterpart ng lynx sa US ay mazda protege... ford focus competes in the same category but is a different car

anyway, the protege has been replaced by the Mazda 3 na... it will just be a matter of time until the current Lynx here will be replaced, perhaps by the 3 from Mazda. if so, then Ford may bring in the Focus over here to replace the Lynx for itself. or maybe it will just sell a rebadged version of the Mazda 3 (maybe with different options/trim)

I know for a fact that i-VTEC and VVTi are different. I know that the i-VTEC has valve lift while the VVTi has not. ang comparable sa i-VTEC ng Honda is the VVTi-L of Toyota. Wala pa akong alam na vehicles ng Toyata dito sa Pinas that has this engine. In terms of technological engines, always ahead and Honda kaysa sa Toyota.

i'll still go for the civic... kung hindi matic...

pero for their prices... i'll add a little more cash and get a bigger vehicle, pamilyado kasi ako.

parehas naman matic ang altis 1.8G at civic 2.0L eh....but if you're lookin' for a car na ganito ang engine displacement, i think you are prepared for the gasoline costs. if you are into pormahan ng cars, the civic is better with more available aftermarket parts and accessories.
