id go with the city...
HONDA CITY![]()
I've owned a lot of cars and SUVs the past 8 years and this is the first time I get surprised everytime I calculate my own gas consumption with the City IDSI--tipid talaga. Minsan ako pa yung naaatat magpa-gas kse parang ang tagal maubos, kinakabahan ako hehehe. For me, it doesn't matter kasi gano kaganda ang car kasi madaming car na maganda kung maganda lang paguusapan---pero yung gugustuhin mo dalin lagi wherever kasi ang tipid tipid sa gas and ang lamig talaga ng aircon, laki pa ng loob, kasya lahat ng ilagay mo---that's hard to find in a car/vehicle. I like the ZX (with the wing spoiler) look on the city 2006 (I'm canvassing ZX body kits right now) and I'm sure it will be one of the best looking cars around pag nailagay na miski yung wing spoiler and nice 15" mags lang. Just my POV
I am also planning to get a Honda Civic 1.8 this 2nd quarter (in case may improvements and wala nang pila), and I considered Mazda 3 also before. Kaso when I learned na FORD product to and malakas pa sa gas, back out na ko. I've had a lot of headaches with my last Ford Explorer after 1 year of ownership and I swore never to get any other Ford product again.![]()

i think you are mis-informed somewhat, the Mazda 3 is based on the Global C1 Platform that's shared by three outstanding cars like Mazda3, Volvo S40, and 2nd.Gen. Ford Focus that's available in Pinas & Europe. NA still gets just a refreshed Gen1. Focus...Originally Posted by av427
Mazda3 is wholly designed and manufactured by Mazda. Ford just borrow's some of the MZR series engine & designs for their cars. And u should be proudly supporting it as we are exporting all these vehicles (except the gas guzzling SUV's) to all over South East asia! Proudly Philippine made.

It is just my own stand and preference when buying new vehicles, and no offense meant if you like those brands kasi kanya kanya tayo ng hinahanap and criteria when buying. I'd rather help the country generate more jobs in my own little way with my business. I just can't spend my hard-earned money on those brands given that I can buy Honda or Toyota![]()

but in the end, probably nothing beats the Expedition being a Fire Hazard....
i agree... the honda/toyota bulletproof quality ek-ek is overated.Originally Posted by parakitoJDM
Fuel consumption has to be a major consideration when buying a new car these days.
The Honda City 1.3 iDSi with CVT gives very good fuel milage even in metro manila traffic.
The Mazda3 1.6L gives average fuel milage. The comfort level is better though than the City especially when at cruising speeds.
BTW, for some reason, I get "seasick" whenever I drive my mom's Honda City 1.3L iDSi for more than an hour straight. I think it has to do with the car's suspension dynamics.

not sure, since it's my mom's car, I can't just go ahead and tinker with it.Originally Posted by Initial-"Dito"

hehehe.
Brand loyalty is hard to change though, as lousy as most Benzes are with reliability, they won't lose followers anytime soon..
Back sa topic, I'd choose the Mazda, but if one car lang tapos araw-araw gamitin (fuel economy an issue), then I'd pick the City, I hate the car, but practicality wise, it's hard to fault.
Competition among car brands is always good for consumers---mas dumadami choices natin and mas pinapaganda nila pag may ka-kompetensya. Eventhough I don't like Mazda or Ford--I like it na marami ding buyers ng brands na to coz that means business for them will be good and thus-the brands I like will always be on their toes in giving what we need because of competition. In the end, we are all winners because we get to choose from a wide selection and get what we want especially because cars are not cheap.
For me though, it's funny to choose between a M3 and a City. Not of the same class. But like many here who are concerned with fuel economy, I'd go for City. M3 is like more in line with the Civic though many would agree Civic is the better choice, for now.
mazdamazda,
i'll take "overrated" honda quality anytime over, say, understated Chevrolet quality. bwahahahahahahaaaa
