Between this two cars Hyundai Elantra 1.6 A/T or M/T and Honda City 1.5E A/T, which has a better fuel economy, reliabilty and durability as well?
How about maintenance cost?
Thank you guys...

city is more efficient. kung fuel efficient hanap mo, get the manual. BTW, they are not in the same category. sub-compact and compact. city-accent, civic-elantra
i know sir, but if you see, the pricing is not that far. 1.6 Elantra M/T (818K) and 1.5 City A/T (836K). Wala naman M/T ang city na 1.5 variant. So its between 1.6 MT compacts vs 1.5 A/T subcompact. Which will be the practical choice?
While civic pricing is somewhat over priced... just like saying sobrang bilib sa sarili...hehehe
The City with the AT isn't really any more efficient, actually... The Elantra is an all-around better car.
[QUOTE=restituto;1989612]thank you sir, how about the fuel economy of City (M/T) vs Elantra (M/T)?[/QUOTE
Im using 2012 City 1.5E
My average liter is 8-9kms per liter in mixed driving
From Bicutan to Katipunan vice versa
I use a 2009 City 1.5L AT. I get 10 km/L on my normal daily route (Paranaque-Makati CBD-Taguig and back). Kung Elantra vs City, I would prefer the bigger car. The City feels cramped. The Jazz has better internal space compared to the City.
Sinasabi ko lang na hindi naman efficient yung City, as claimed. It's at par with the heavier 1.6 Altis MT. 9-10km/L city driving. Highway driving best I did was 11.7km/L as per the MID reading. Pero spirited driving yun, and knowing Honda, konting tapak downshift agad so the RPM shoots up to only god knows where.
Have not driven the Elantra but I own a 2009 1.5E AT City. Mixed city and highway driving with emphasis on highway, I get 14km/L. Thats per the trip computer, I did not compute manually. Set the computer to 0 about 1000 kms ago and thats the ave I got. Pure highway, my best was 16 km/l. Pure city driving I'm guessing 7 or 8 km/l in very heavy traffic
any comment from elantra owner? of course they will nice on their car but just want to hear personal experience
City 1.5 A/T is not fuel efficient. My brother has one. ~8KM/L ayon sa reading. Same lang ng Civic ko
sa mga Hyundai posts, concerns are mostly from 2010 Tucson and Accent; parang silent ang Elantra
I also had this choices before. I end up buying Elantra 1.6 AT. So far ok naman. My only gripe is the poor noise insulation.
Sa FC naman, I used to own Civic FD 1.8MT and much less ang consumption ng Elantra 1.6 AT, probably due to the smaller displacement. I think I am getting around 11-13Km/L sa Elantra, 70% highway vs 9-10Km/L sa Civic.
My first brand new car was a 2006 Honda City 1.5VTEC CVT
That is one efficient car considering that the 1.5 engine is more powerful than bigger 1.6l engines at the time. 10 to 11 km/l easy on city driving, 14 to 16 km/l hataw mode sa high way ... Kaya ayun, we ended up using it more as compared to my Tucson . . . 4 years pa lang e 110,000 km agad.
Sadly, the new City is no longer that efficient ... Even yung 1.3L ng officemate ko can't reach 8KM/L in makati traffic . . . Mas matipid pa nga yung MS GLS-V nya.
Hence, when I needed to replace my 2006 City, I ended up with an Elantra 1.8GLS that can do 8 to 9 KM/L easy in Makati Traffic . . . I suppose mas matipid sa traffic yung 1.6L
