Between the 2000-2003 Starex(non CRDI) and the local diesel Spacegear, which is cheaper to maintain? Thinking of getting one for the family. The spacegear's size would be okay since we're only 7. Thanks in advance

from a parts market driven perspective, mas mura ang starex. dami piyesa nito, mamili ka pa kung surplus, or brand new (dati nga inalok pa ako ng "japan" made na piyesa eh, rotors yata. japan made pero yung kotse korean made? wtf?). more parts locally = lower cost. parang bigas yan eh, if you flood the market with rice, bababa presyo nito (kaya di pwede ipamigay ng NFA yung pinagsswiminngan nila na rice kase ayaw ng local suppliers malulugi sila... but, i digress....)

    para sakin, mas maporma starex.

spacegear, on the other hand, parang makitid. although marami na rin surplus na piyesa ito, there are less spacegears running on the road. so, less spacegears break down, demand is low, suppliers will then provide less parts supply to keep the prices up.

Thanks for the inputs, especially on NFA rice I was thinking kasi na the spacegear pretty much has the same components and underchassis parts as the L300/Adventure/Pajero, pero mukhang hindi ata?

if you are talking about the local space gear.. then it would be ok.. but if its a converted space gear.. then i would go for the starex..

Spacegear (local) versus Starex, i'd go with the Starex.

Starex has more space, more power (as its turbo intercooled versus the turbo, non-intercooled 4d56), has a/t available and its m/t is floor mounted (versus the column stick shift of the Space Gear, and it will have more parts available as it sold in larger numbers.

I'd say the starex, it has more parts given that it was a hit compared to the space gear. Its mas loaded too compared sa space gear. I like the millennium edition look

Have driven both,- Starex is miles ahead of its Spacegear sibling...... My last 3 vans were 3 generations of Starexes.... No issue with any of them.....

That's good to hear sir Which in your experience is the most bang for the buck? I'm targeting the 99-00 intercooler versions, based on budget

Kung ako papipiliin Starex pa rin, we currently have 3 Starexes in the family (an 05 GRX TCI and 2 Grand Starex CVX), I guess its a testament on how satisfied are we with the Starex. During the last 2 months I was looking for a suitable replacement for our office service van, a 98 Toyota Hiace GL that was converted to diesel. My first choice was an 11 seater Starex Jumbo M/T pero ang hirap maghanap, let alone one in good condition, I also looked at a couple of 9 seater versions pero wala talaga akong makitang Starex na matino, lahat ng nakita ko laspag, lalo na yung mga "B" plate na nakadisplay sa Mindanao Ave. In the end, local na Space Gear na Diesel ang natiyempohan ko, saw the van last Thursday and it was in good condition, kukunin ko na pero nagtatawaran pa kami sa presyo.

Dapat Starex GRX CRDi Jumbo kinuha mo. I think you can find some of those in sulit.com.ph. Its much better than the Space Gear. The Space Gear is a slug on the road compared to the Starex. BTW, is that Space Gear you're getting gas or diesel?

What makes it even more complicated in looking for a suitable unit is that may spedcific plate ending kaming hinahanap para di magsabaysabay ang coding.

cheaper to maintain: Starex or Spacegear?
