When I was a young dad ( young pa rin naman ), my first car is a toyota small body. After a year, I upgraded to AUV ( Revo ). I would recommend that you skip buying sedan. Diretso ka na bumili ng mataas na sasakyan. Sa dami ng problema ng daan sa Pilipinas, ( lubak, baha ) a high ride is a must.

I am following that Suzuki Ertiga thread. Any feedback on the brand? Parts and maintenance. Parang Suzuki Makati lang ok, pero di pa ko nag backread ng ibang thread

Hi guys, sorry for bumping this thread again. They've decided now and decision is split among the Adventure, Ertiga, and Spin. Are there any alternatives among these three, bar the avanza? What would you guys recommend? I'm leaning on the Ertiga but they're a bit skeptical since it's petrol and would prefer diesel too. Thanks again!

Between your choices, I'd strike out the Adventure since the ride is too bumpy, tiring after a long drive & the ones I'd seen on the road are smoky. It is OK as a utility van but as a family ride, there are better choices. Other diesel choices are the KIA Soul & KIA Carens, both in VGT CRDI. The Spin is a good choice, though it isn't VGT.

stick with the ertiga, if you want to strech it for diesels sake, get an innova

adventure- pwede pero matagtag, walang dating pero bullet proof engine at madaming mechanic ang may alam king paano ayusin ito.

TBH, getting the spin would be pushing the budget. I'll let them know of the carens, i forgot about it. Shame

Hard to beat talaga ang innova. The best ang carens but you are already looking at mid size suv. Kaya mas practical ang innova

Anything with a massive trunk space should be the number 1 priority. Stroller pa lang, kamot ulo ka na. Plus grocery bags, baby bags, and all the massive travel must haves when bringing the precious baby/toddler along. The rest is dependent on budget.

I got through that stage with my trusty hilander. Had absolutely no problem with space and if the little kid (then) wanted to play with the talc powder, the floor of the rear seat was big enough to be her moving playground.

My friend test-drove the Spin last month: it was noticeably underpowered daw even with just three people on board. Even the sales agent they drove with admitted it and mentioned that that was why Chevy didn't bother to bring the automatic diesel variant here. Struck that one off even though it was at the top of their list.

I vote for the Ertiga. Seems really sulit and good reviews abroad.

Underpowered? Nahhh.. Turbo wakes up at 1.7k rpm, torque is just right. Did a long distance 6 adults(inc 2 yayas) 1 kid 1 toddler, no problem at all.. I cant fault the motor, FC during trip was 19k/L the most frugal diesel i drove. Only thing i can fault is the middle and 3rd row seats, with its limited adjustments and upright position.

I agree with most suggestions here. 1st car noobness, get the tried and tested Innova. Pag aralin mo nalang ng M/T para swak sa budget.

comfortable in the inside , can hear road noise at 100kph
spacious
fine crdi engine
cons- low gorund clearance

Seats 8, rugged chassis, lots of space, affordable parts, fuel-efficient...what else do you need?

a lower floor?
smaller passengers and older passengers do have some difficulty getting in and out of the innova.
'tis the reason why i still have a sedan/hatchback..
