A relative of mine bought a China truck before. Problem with these seem to be substandard quality of engine components. Mabilis bumigay mga piyesa. And then yung pintura nung binili ay kulay puti, di nagtagal dirty white na at nagmumukha nang grey. Not to mention na nangangalawang na after around 2 years. JAC tatak nung truck.
Personally, I find Fuso engines to be more refined and quiet than Isuzu engines. Both are excellent workhorses and you shouldn't go wrong with either one as long as you got a unit that is in good condition, and have a driver that will take good care of it. I suppose the reputation of these trucks rely largely on word-of-mouth. Different countries have different preferences. Here we may prefer Isuzu, but in Taiwan you will find that almost all the trucks are Mitsubishi.
The brand new local Japanese light trucks available still use old school diesels. Some variants may have added turbo intercooler, but that is not new among the Japan surplus.
