Am a first-time car buyer, would need your inputs please, as I'm choosing between a Ford Focus, Honda City, or a Lancer EX? Many thanks!

Give each car a test drive and come back.

What are your priorities in a new car? What is your normal driving load (passengers)?

Personally, since it's your first car. You might be better off with the Honda City or Lancer EX. If fuel economy is high on your list, you'll have to downsize your choices to cars with 1.5L engines and smaller. Are you fine with Korean cars?

Read the other threads? There are plenty already on those vehicles that you've mention.

Thanks much for your feedback. Priorities? The car has to be within the 850k budget and would definintely love a car that's maporma, fast, powerful, would still look good after 5 years. Fuel economy is of course very important, but I'm also trying to weigh in power (engine), speed, look. Korean cars are fine too.

IMBA din lalo kapag kumatok makina mo.

Econo car tapos kelangan mo mag premium gas, and even then di ka sigurado kung maayos takbo ng makina mo.

Not touching the Accent 1.4 or Rio 1.4 until they give me one free (in which case, I can sell it for scrap when the engine conks out) or when they can fix the engine issues.

Pati ba ang Rio kumakatok na rin?

Or assumption lang na PWEDE sila kumatok kasi same engine lang sila ng Accent?

Mej out of place ung Honda City dun sa Comparo mo since its the only Sub-Compact Car on your choices.
for your first car, establishing your priorities on what you need in the car are very impt. Fuel Economy? Space? Power and Speed? Daily Commuter or for FUN DRives? etc.

But I'll give my 2 cents on each car

Ford Focus - there's an all NEW model just launched in Thailand and could hit our shores this year so If your planning for a hightech hatch with 2.0 engine. This is your baby. don't get the current version since you will get stuck with a new old car model.

Honda City - great daily commuter. most fuel efficient of the 3. new facelift and improvements in the interior makes this a very good choice for a first car. Tho the design might be a bit too serious and corporate, not ***y enough

Lancer EX - Really nice exterior design and has the power and speed to match it.

It is best to set your priorities and what you intend to use the car for. Also , test drive all three. it is there you will truly find out which car you like.

Sincerely appreciate your comments. Honestly, as this is my first time to buy a car, I wouldn't know what the first and most important consideration should be in buying a car? For now what I would want is a cool, fast, and powerful car within the 850k budget. I've test-driven the City and the Focus. Both are ok as regards maneuverability. City felt like its manipis, while the Focus has a more STURDY feel.

If you want something cool, fast and powerful. sa choices mo panalo talaga c Lancer EX. kaso, its 900K+ ata.

For a first time car, I think practicality and reliability are top priorities for me. I think i'd like something na d hassle masyado imaintain at fuel efficient with the prices of gasoline these days.

So I'd probably pick the City for a first time car with your budget on your comparo. Either City or a Ford Fiesta. I think the Fiesta gives a better package compared to the base Focus.

just wana share my take on the Accent / Rio engine problem....

Knowing that there's a (slight or big) possibility that there might be something wrong with the engine of the car, I'm definitely staying away from that. I don't want to risk my hard earned money on something that might be defective. Worse, its the engine pa may chance magkaproblema, the most essential part of a car! Sana mga small things lang like wipers or windows, I can live with that.
Are you willing to risk that money?

If its your first car, i suggest bili ka muna ng 2nd hand yung from a trusted friend kung meron tapos hindi binaha.

Can't decide: 2012 Ford Focus, Honda City, Lancer EX?
