What are you looking in a SUV? Offroad capability? Cargo space? Out of town trips with the family?

July 9th, 2009 02:25 PM #4In fact for me, only whatever is preferable in general between these SUV's. Except I'm more likened on high-speed and power and fuel efficiency. Comfort will just be a plus factor and I don't see problems within these SUV's regarding that. Just consulting further ideas from you guys.

Of the choices given, the Montero Sport would the best choice.
But if you are open to other options, you might want to take a good look at the Nissan X-Trail 4x4 2.5L. Handles and rides more like a car than a truck (all three listed handles like a truck). Capable for some soft off-road duty.
And since its gasoline fed, you can opt for an Auto-LPG kit which would give you the option to choose your fuel between gasoline and LPG. Auto-LPG will greatly help cut the running cost.

Power and fuel economy? Only 2010 KIA Sorento II and 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe can deliver that at the same time. Both come with Hyundai R-Engine CRDI EVGT 2.2L 200hp/436Nm stock engine power mated with ZF six-speed AT.
Among your choices, Montero Sport. Mahal parts ng Ford e.

July 9th, 2009 03:05 PM #7Thanks. I didn't include the Alterra simply because I never like the looks. It's more like a variant of D-Max with cab at the back. But, I appreciate your ideas.

Compared to what? Before I went all gonzo with modifications, I had my car serviced at the casa, and the parts cost just the same as anywhere else.
Now that I don't have it maintained there and buy from Mazford and Fordland... guess what? Parts cost just the same as anything else.
It's very model dependent. The Focus has pricey parts because it's a new model and Euro-market... the Lynx, Ranger and Eve have reasonably priced parts... and... surprisingly... electronics for the US-made SUVs don't cost all that much compared to similar parts for other vehicles.

The Montero Sport is the only ladder frame in the class that's actually comfortable. Full stop. Both the Everest and Fortuner make too many compromises in ride to ensure on-road and off-road manners... whereas the Montero focuses more on a smooth ride than good handling. It has more understeer than either Everest or Fortuner, but it doesn't roll, sway or judder as much over broken pavement.
The Santa Fe is the only seven seater that's better (of course, it's more expensive). The Captiva is a bit stiff-legged (like our CR-V) and has more understeer than a bus, while the Sorento is incredibly soft and bouncy.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
