    Hi guys,

Planning to buy a new car, my first car actually..

    Below are my options:
    1) Subaru Impreza 2012
    2) Mitsubishi Lancer EX GTA 2012

    Priorities:
    1) Looks
    2) Maybe maintenance costs/fuel economy?
    3) Performance

I'm not that sure with priorities #2 and #3 because first car ko pa nga lang. I don't know in the long which will make more sense.

Comments please and feel free to add other options..

    Thanks!
    Pat

someone keep on insisting that if I go for Subaru, then might as well choose XV.

so I guess this increases my budget to 1.5M?

And the new priorities would be:
    1) Looks
    2) For Long-term use
    3) Maintenance costs/fuel economy?
    4) Performance

    Ah, mataas pala budget mo

With that I'd rather get an SUV na lang.

I have the Lancer, its a great car very capable, and other than some quality control issues, problem free so far. But if budget permitted, I'd have gotten an SUV. Our roads and weather isn't really great for a car especially if that's gonna be your only car.

Note however that if you get the diesel SUVs, your maintenance cost will be higher and will probably not be offset by your fuel cost for a very long time.

College student? Tapos saan nagaaral? :hysterical:

So dapat SUV. Pero I understand meron ka want to become maporma, so di ko na ipipilit na mag-high ground clearance vehicle ka. Between your choices, Impreza ako. Wala lang. Gwapo kahit 2.0R.

Lancer GTA den ba mismo yung senyo? how about sir yung performance? speed.. madami nagsasabi.. iiwanan lang daw ng honda or focus tdci yung lancer gta?

and in terms of maintenance ng diesel SUVs, was under the impression na mas mababa ang maintenance costs nun? can you please expound?

Wala po akong GTA. Civic FD lang 1.8L.

GTA vs. TDCi Focus, oo iwan yung Lancer.

Usual SUVs would suit a binata-look well. Of course, iba pa rin though kapag naka-pormadong sedan.

Eto nalang sir, if you don't frequent areas which are usually flooded, mag-GTA ka na -- huwag na Impreza, sedan naman pala eh. Bago pa style ng GTA ngayon, parang may minor change. And balita ko mas umingay for a sportier feel.

Sayang, I would've recommended the Focus TDCi. Pero phased out na eh. Pinalitan ng 2.0L GDi which we are clueless about in terms of reliabilty, consumption and fun factor.

After ko ipa-1k PMS yung Altis namin, inabutan ako ng Ondoy sa daan, the flood was high enough to trigger the parking sensors to beep.

I'd suggest the new Focus Sport+ 5-door if you're getting a new car. 1.99M comes with all the features you'd expect from a compact car (except probably power seats).

If you want an SUV though, I'd suggest the Kia Sportage EX R-eVGT. Matipid, mabilis, maporma, sulit. 1.29M.

Of course, it's got less features than the Focus, but so do all other CUVs under 1.7M.

If you want an even bigger car, there's the Sorento LX for 1.43M.

anong SUVs gamit mo sir? and what were your thoughts bakit SUV pinili niyo when most of the time solo flight lang or maybe couple of friends here and there?

interesting, maybe a year ago I really wanted the Focus TDCi.. mejo naging common lang masyado kaya inayawan ko na.. hmm well Pasig-Cainta area is usually flooded.. would that stop me from buying a GTA? worst case, iwan ko na lang sa Eastwood pag mataas na ang tubig :D hmm.. how about sa subdivision na puro humps? factor den ba eto? wala lang just a thought..

sir, bale GTA na lang because of the sportier feel and look? how about performance and maintenance costs? halos parehas lang ba?

Haha!

First SUV I used is a Isuzu Trooper SkyRoof (2003).

Ngayon Hyundai Tucson, Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sportage at Honda CR-V nalang.

Yung Tucson at Santa Fe, both diesel. parehong 2010 model. Tipid pero matulin. Pag biglang bumaha no problem wag lang talaga mga knee level. Yung Sportage, same as posted above pero gasoline variant since the diesel wasn't available last year. Yung CR-V '08 pa nasa amin, 2.4 4WD naman, medyo matakaw sa gas bro.

Pag SUV kasi mas "iba" yung dating mo. Tapos sakto sa road condition natin kasi puro lubak.

Sometimes I go out with my friends. Pero minsan lang may nakiki-sabay. Usually kanya kanyang car parin.

Kung gusto mo ng hatch, then by all means get the Impreza. But if you use it as everyday car, the trunk space may come in handy. Nakukulangan ako sa base 2.0 Impreza for its price, unlike GT-A na top of the line variant and you can really see the difference compared to the base Impreza. Both cars have cruise control but for me this is pretty much useless on Philippine roads. Impreza's advantage is its AWD system but its up to you to use it for your advantage.

GT-A is very efficient for a 2.0L car. Thanks to the INVECS III CVT transmission. Although if you can buy a 1.3M car, then fuel consumption is not really an issue in the first place.

I have a GT-A and use it as my daily driver, Quezon City to Makati plying through EDSA. The only downside, it gets kinda bumpy. Thanks for the uneven roads of EDSA and to the stock 18-inch rims and firm suspension, although I already expected it. Sporty feel sacrifices comfort. Other than that, all smiles

Re: flood, I assume na kabisado mo naman yung roads of your daily route. Kung bahain talaga, then get an SUV. In my case, di ko problema ang baha and heavy downpour doesn't happen 365 days a year. And kapag may baha, I'll just find other things to do while waiting for it to subside.

Di naman phased out, sa new gen wala palang TDCi variant. GDi lang.

I saw a brand new Impreza sedan a while ago. Di naman pala pangit. Ok lang.. though not really sporty. Mukhang executive na, wala na yung boy-racer days niya before. Sayang.

Just saw the white and black models of Impreza 2012, turn off sa looks.. sobrang normal lang ng dating ng sedan. Tsk tsk.. if only the hatchback version will be released.here then I wouldn't be bothering you guys

Now leaning towards GTA.. unless i hear very positive feedbacks sa bagong focus..
