Let's set aside the different the pricing strategies that Motor Image and Toyota Phil might be employing. Lets focus on the features of the individual vehicles. This will help to determine which is one is being overpriced or if the price difference is justifiable.

This comparison involves the base Toyota 86 M/T (non aero) at Php1,550,000.00 and BRZ M/T at Php 1,928,000

Since both essentially roll out of the same factory, wondering what does the BRZ have (in terms of features or equipment) to justify the price difference over the 86?

So far these are what I noticed:

    BRZ
    - Alcantara Leather Suede upholstery
    - Spare tire: Same Full size Alloy.

    86
    - Standard cloth upholstery
    - Donut type spare or steel rims (?)

Owners of these two vehicles are encouraged to contribute.

the brz has a stiffer suspension compared to the 86, but besides what has already been said here they're virtually identical. is the price difference worth it? to me i could honestly say yes. MI has a much much better after sales service compared to the best toyota dealer out there plus the fact that MI is mod friendly and won't deny your warranty that easily just because of an aftermarket part.

i have a brz and wanted an 86 since in the future it will hold it's value better than the brz plus the history of the 86, but good luck getting an 86 without the add ons which makes the car cost almost the same as the brz.

oh and both cars have steel rims as spare.

I just checked the red BRZ currently at the Motor Image Greenhills showroom and the spare is the same type of wheels as the other four.

As for the 86, yes I believe its steel rims.

This is correct. There are buttons for this on the center console.

    So to recap:

    BRZ
    - Alcantara Leather Suede upholstery
    - Spare tire: Same Full size Alloy.
    - Heated front seats.

This is the spare on the red BRZ on display now at Subaru Greenhills:

like i said, i got mine because of after sales service plus the fact that MI didn't force me to buy anything i don't want. when i was looking for an 86 i went through 5 toyota dealers which all required me to get in-house finance, +10%d.i., in-house insurance, trd body kit, head unit forgot the brand, tint then i also have to pay for lto and tpl. in the end it cost the same as the brz. and it was a much better deal than when the 86 first came out which will cost you 2.1M for the standard 86 because of all the add ons.

Different DRL locations. Which one comes with the smart no-more-fumbling-for-the-key-to-unlock-the-doors system?
