get brand new... even if that fortuner is well maintained its still a 9 year old car.. old cars will never be good as new kahit well maintained pa yan.. tapos gastos ka pa sa gulong nyan.

tapos ang tanong bakit nga ba binebenta yan?? kasi malakas sa gas....

galing ka na sa lumang sasakyan.. luma pa din ipapalit mo??

try mo suzuki ertiga kung space ang habol mo.. dagdag lang konti.

    - Bald tyres (these cost 5-6k each to replace).
    - Suspension parts for replacement (more expensive than that found on your Advie since this is an SUV)
    - Possible failing electronics (Alarm/keyless system, power door locks, power windows, power side mirrors)
    - Possible dirty air conditioning system

Of course not to mention the Fortuner will not have that brand new scent.
My vote is for a 2nd hand SUV, I saw in the internet that a 2011-2012 ford Everest, you can get for a little over 600k, and you can't compare an SUV to a hatchback, long drives, weekend getaway you will get more value from an SUV, driving through floods, unexpected heavy downpour no worries when you are driving an SUV, respect on the road almost always goes to the bigger car, especially if your plying through Edsa with buses all around you. Maintenance I don't think you'll have issues with a 3 yr old car, provided you do your homework and check the background of the vehicle, I used to own a Ford Everest bought it 2nd hand, with only 14k of mileage used for a year by the owner, i used it for good two years with no issues before i decided to sell it in favor of the all new Ford Ranger. I wont recommend a VVTI Fortuner as they say its a gas guzzler, if you can find a diesel that's fine.

My wife and I finally decided to get a 2nd hand SUV or CUV. Based on our preferences, we need to have higher ground clearance for floods and extra road visibility and strong suspension just like with our adventure. We dont care kung matagtag basta tatagal ang ilalim. we could consider year 2010+ models, as advised. We saw tucson, everest and innova with 2010+ year models fit with our budget according to olx.

Actually diesel ang original target ko sa fortuner at kaya ko naiconsider mag-gas dahil marami ako nababasang issues sa D4-D engine sa toyota sub forum.

Anyone can attest hyundai(theta) and ford(tdci(?)) engine? we are currently checking out tucson and everest. kamusta kaya fuel consumption?

Everest pinaka ok dyan. I doubt may papasok sa budget na fortuner diesel na 2010. Take advantage mo low resale value ng ford

i would prefer an innova than a cuv imho.
but since you are already decided on what vehicle to buy, consider the Everest and the Innova first. depende na lang talaga sa condition ng oto yan na i test drive mo.

CUVs are smaller though and have lower ground clearances than the Everest. but kung wala ka ng choice, the Tucson would also be good....

You may also give the Chevy Captiva a look. Its a diesel powered CUV.

sana may nabibiling car perfume na "brand new car" scent.

dati nung AUV palang nahahawakan ko, naiisip ko pag may budget pambili ng pamalit ay mas ok ang 2nd hand SUV kesa brand new sedan for the same reasons as TS posted: ride height, flood fording, potholes etc. pero nung nakahawak ako ng brand new sedan nagbago pananaw ko. hehehe

mas magaan dalhin ang sedan, mas responsive, mas relaxing i-drive. tutal di naman ibebenta ni TS yung AUV niya might as well keep it and use if for those out of town trips instead, also for stormy weather. hindi naman araw araw may ulan at baha, hindi rin lahat ng kalsada ay lubak-lubak.

but then again decided na si TS. go for an innova. =)
