newbee,
Yung Pajero niyo kasi ay kagaya ng sa akin na GEN II a.k.a. Tonka-look a.k.a. V44 with a 4D56 TDIC engine. Yung hoodscoop available lang on 4M40 engined models (para may distinction between the two).
May plastic ducts doon which direct air in between the hood's inner and outer panels (double wall ang hood ng Pajero) and finally into the intercooler which is also aided by a fan mounted underneath it.

blister fender yung facelifted na "tonka-look"... it came out in 1999 or 2000 ata along with the 2.8L diesel... ito yung may malalaking bulging fenders
the Trooper and Pajero and Prado will outperform the Patrol on the road... mabigat at less-biased to road use ang live axle front suspension ng patrol. plus, the Patrol is about 1000 pounds heavier than those three and is much larger. pero panalong-panalo yung patrol sa off-road...
since you're not too interested in off-roading, i think the IFS mid-size suvs would suit your needs better.

independent front suspension... better for on-road ride and handling, generally considered inferior off-road...

November 18th, 2002 09:50 AM #49newbee,
i would love to have your problem anytime!
have a friend who likes the frontier so much, but got a good deal and got himself a strada, up to now he tells me what if i bought the frontier...blah blah blah!

I'm really sold for Patrol, excuse me for being biased. :D
If I were in newbee's position, I'd still prefer the new Patrol 'coz of its parts. Naka-abang na lahat ng parts nito for 4X4. Being a big guy like him, di hamak yata mas bagay ang robust image of the said vehicle. :D But then again, he's more into on-road driving than off-roading, exterior and interior accessories is the hard part. Kung porma din lang ang gusto mo get the field master pajero, with all the ralliart accessories you may want in it. (just don't overdress it) Kung engine reliability naman and basic SUV ang hilig mo the latter choice would be better option. (with new "skyroof" option, pwede gamitin ni erpat for his campaign lalo na malapit na ang elections!)
You have all the advantage of being born with the "DEEP Pocket", get one vehicle if it doesn't suit your taste sell it then get the other one. :D
