I am a first time poster, and subscribed mainly because I can't decide on this matter, and I wanted help from you guys.

I have always dreamed of getting a convertible for the longest time, and I am just about ready to take the plunge. I am looking at 2005-2007 Z4 or SLK350, the prices are comparable. I have test driven both. And this is what I have gathered:

The BMW handles noticeably better, controls are precise, cornering is impeccable.

The SLK looks much sleeker with the hardtop.

Interior design, hands down, SLK wins. Z4 is pretty plain.

The speed difference is quite negligible, with a slight advantage to the SLK.

Maintenance costs are cheaper for the Z4.

I live in northeast US, and where I'm at, there are not very many SLKs. Z4s are quite common.

The car will not be a daily driver. I will treat it mostly as a weekend/joyride car.

    Thanks for any input.

I'd go for the SLK because of the all-weather hardtop/convertible.

For me, the SLK would be my choice.

There's a BMW 3-series convertible in petrol and diesel. You can also opt for the M3 Convertible V8 420hp.

BMW Z4 or MB SLK350
