April 10th, 2016 11:52 PM #716Exactly my experience sir when I test drove both 4x2 models of Eve and Monty. I find the Monty more restrained than the Eve. I have good comparison kasi I tested them just minutes apart, as I was seriously looking then for my first SUV. I'd like to believe that I've been objective as I possibly can when I picked the Eve over the Monty and Fort since I didn't own any vehicle from these 3 brands before. All I have for 18 years is my reliable 1997 Honda Civic VTI.
I still have reservations about the reliability of Ford though. I have accepted the common thinking na mas matibay in general ang mga Japanese branded cars than American cars. But in the end one has to make a compromise and decide based on what one thinks is the best package that will give him most value for his hard-earned money. And the Ford Everest ticks most of the boxes for me.
To each his own, 'ika nga. Let's continue to agree to disagree on our beloved SUVs. For now I'm really enjoying my 2.2L Everest Titanium Premium. Cheers!

Absolutely none of these models are sold here. And they're all related models (same/similar chassis and components) that don't share anything with the Australian-engineered Everest.

As for EPS problems... many of the older EPS equipped cars are now nearing the age where they are encountering EPS issues. One problem with older EPS systems is that they are lifetime systems, and have no provision for maintenance. When they die, you throw out the motor assembly and buy a new one. Not sure what the new ones are like and whether we are now equipped to have these motors rebuilt or rewound, like we can do with alternators.
Not that hydraulics are categorically better. Ask anyone who's had to fork over big bucks to replace a dead hydraulic rack on an Accord or CRV.
The 3.2 is definitely more powerful than the 2.2, but it's got no punch above 3,000 rpm and the automatic transmission is poorly mated to the motor... it holds on to each gear past the power peak when it really ought to short shift at 3,200 - 3,500 rpm for quickest acceleration. (I've tested this against the V-Box... this is one of the very few cars on the road where short-shifting is actually faster!)
The Monty, I hope to get a personal review soon. Was not all that impressed with the power, especially not compared to the firecracker that was the 4D56T, but it is much smoother and better for daily use than the old motor. And the interior, panalo.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Sir Niky,
This is for a clarification lang po, correct me if I'm wrong.
If I remember correctly Sir, somebody mentioned here that the transmission will adopt your driving techniques for a period of time. IMHO, incase na yung unit na ginamit for drive test is slow responsive in changing gear, probably yung huling nagdrive test is ganun siya magmaneho. This is why it is better to test for a little bit longer just to compensate that the transmission will adopt your driving techniques.
Have a good day po..
Planning to buy a second car. Help me choose. Honda accord has 71k mileage for ₱465,000 Nissan...
