Or maybe because of the Nissan Diesel Terrano that is sweeping India and Malaysia. Yun na lang dalhin nila para may diesel SuV naNissan

What category papasok Nissan Terrano or Pathfinder? Baka sa compact suv din sila, wala pa midsize suv Nissan.

Hi sir minicarph, I understand your point na may advantage mini suv when it comes to the traffic situation dito sa atin. We cannot ignore the fact na ang dami ngayon na ang preference is midsize suv maybe because of the extra 2 small seats and the road conditions (lubak, baha, etc..) Siguro gawa tayo seperate thread to pit compact suv's against midsize suv's.

BTT, we recently got the Everest Trend and currently enjoying it. It just excites me to see yung mga bagong models ng Fort and Monty kasi nakakaumay na yung mga current, sa dami ba naman di ba.

Interesting din to see how the new Eve fairs against the upcoming Forts and Monties.

Mitsu to lose 2nd spot in the 7seat suv market because of high prices next year?

May the Mux be number 2 then.

    Curb weights (depending on variants)

    Montero - 2045-2070 Kg
    Fortuner - 2110-2135 Kg
    Everest - 2370-2495 Kg

That's a huge difference 425kg between the Everest totl vs montero.

That's 936 pounds almost 1,000 pounds weight difference. That will take a big hit on performance, economy and handling comparisons.

I didn't know the difference was that big. Are these numbers accurate?

The Everest 4x4 does 0-100 km/h in just a little less time than the old Fortuner 4x4... despite having a 40 hp and two gear advantage.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

These are taken from practicalmotoring.com australia review. Though it may vary in countries but I dont think the margins will become close. I guess its safe to put 350kg-400kg difference since the performance already shows proof anyways

Yes curb weights means a lot in terms of acceleration and fuel efficiency. Or better yet call it power-to-weight ratio.

In general, the lighter the car the better fuel efficiency and acceleration. Of course this is one factor alone but for me is a major one.

    OT:
i think this video is the perfect example how power-to-weight ratio affects the overall performance of a car

    AGERA VS BUGATTI
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DH5j4PYp-o

on paper the bugatti is up by 60 hp and also has more torque that is up by as much as 300 nm compared to the agera. but the drawback lies on the curb weight of the bugatti.

perhaps maybe the reason why ford decided to upgrade its 2.2 engine is because of its heavy curb weight, and even with the upgraded 2.2 tdci it did not really have a significant effect on the acceleration department of the car especially with the everest.

JUST A COMPARISON ON THE ACCELERATION OF THESE NEW SUV'S
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEpAfM8ej2M- acceleration of everest 2.2 TDCI.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YPMaEWbxnI- acceleration of everest 3.2 TDCI.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64NXlPUPUZU- acceleration of toyota fortuner 2.4 2GD V(wala pang video ng 2.8 GD eh).

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3bqJ_-zqzA- acceleration of mitsubishi pajerosport(monterosport) 2.4 MIVEC 4x4.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dlw1j-s_VxQ- acceleration of mitsubishi pajerosport(monterosport) 2.4 MIVEC 4x2.

The original 2.2 was said to be laggy. The new engine got a small power bump and reduction of lag. But yes, they probably upgraded it to handle the everest's considerable mass.

Yes, I was validating my purchase but we are also actually looking to replace our other 10 year old SUV. My wife wanted the new Monty, told her to wait until we have test driven the Fortuner before making the decision. I think the new Monty will do just fine.
