The Everest has a better ride and more cabin space. In terms of interior materials, it's hard to judge without putting them side by side. I might give it to the Everest, though... and the Titanium package with the extra goodies is incredibly hard to beat.

If the new Monty improves upon the trucklike ride of the old one (yes, the old Monty was soft, but it was somewhat jiggly) as much as the others are saying it does, I'd say it has a decent chance against the Fort. Was not all that impressed with the interior or drive of the new Strada, but both the new Fort and Monty seem to be a step above their pick-up twins... and the new Strada is still using the old 2.5... so I have to with-hold judgment until I get a proper go in the Montero.
Have you also driven the Santa Fe? How would you compare it to the Everest & Fortuner?

Its not a ppv but its still capable of 99% of the tasks as the other two.

I think Niky had a review a few years back in Top Gear of driving the hell out of the Santa Fe in the sand dunes of Ilocos. 5 stars.

I've had the old gen 2 santa fe. Iba naman ang ride quality ng crossover sa ppv. I can say better pa than a sedan yung gen 2 santa fe. Even the "sport-tuned" suspension of the 2012 sorento is better than my new everest. Mas maganda pa siguro latest gen santa fe so fearless guess is a no contest in the ride quality department the crossovers will win hands down.

Santa Fe ko sobrang sarap i-drive, at par with my CRV.

minsan na ako nag-drive ng Montero Sport to 3 day vacation Batangas when my wife's girl friend asked me na ako na daw mag-drive ng Montero nya

I'm interested in this as well. I've not been inside the new Fortuner, Montero and Everest. But I've driven and rode a few times newer PPV SUVs such as the Trailblazer and MU-X (c/o test drives and friends that own them). They've got softer suspensions for a cushier but wallowy ride, particularly the MU-X, but they're still nowhere near as complacent and refined as non-PPV SUVs such as the Santa Fe, Sorento and Explorer. I wonder if they've managed to make a big leap in ride quality and comfort with the new Fortuner, Montero and Everest.

Also, I found out today that the Trailblazer 2.8 is now pretty cheap. Saw the new Everest at the mall today. I checked out the Everest and was terribly disappointed with its 3rd row seats. Then I checked Trailblazer beside it. Gulat ko, 1.398M Php nalang pala yung cheapest automatic variant nila. And it has the 2.8 diesel that makes 200 HP and 500 nm. I'm pretty impressed they managed to lower the price that much. Parang 1.7M ata yung 2.8 diesel ng Trailblazer when it first came out.

Any thoughts on this? The Trailblazer is huge and heavy, but a 200 HP, 500 nm engine for under 1.4M Php is pretty hard to beat in my book, considering the new 181 HP, 430 nm Montero is now 1.5M Php.

If you care only about raw power, then the TB would fit you just right. I do think that its interior is nowhere as good as any of the newer 3, in fact I'd say it's downright ugly. Engine is also quite noisy. And I'm not really a fan of its exterior either.

Personally, I don't see the point of powerful PPVs because these trucks don't handle or brake half as well as subcompacts. All of them have enough torque to climb steep mountain roads on full load, and all can cruise the highway at triple digit speeds easily. So I'd get the best all-rounder rather than just the fastest truck, and that would be the Everest for me.

Oh, and if it's just a fast diesel you're looking for, the Tucson will still run circles around the heavier Trailblazer.

PPVs are always inferior in terms of refinement compared to regular SUV. But they are better in terms of wading depth, off-road, towing. Maybe someday they will have suspension switching from car-like soft to truck rough. haha :D

But hey very nice pricing for TB! Where did you find this? If fuel economy is not a concern this is a great deal. On the other side the Montero sport will offer the best fuel economy. Though its 1.5M, you can easily negate the price difference in the long run. Plus I think power-to-weight ratio is close with TB slightly ahead

Why have you not tried the new montero sir? Among the 3 new suv, the montero/mmcp seems to be the most active in promoting its suv with test drives scheduled almost every week in malls. :P

I hope topgear ph would release an in depth comparo of the 3 new suv soon. With 30+ min video sana since I've really enjoyed watching the review videos from car advice AU.

Everest vs Montero Sport vs Fortuner mid-variants - Motioncars | Motioncars parang hindi fair comparison.... Shouldn't the Fort G and Monty GLS be up against the Eve Ambiente? And MU-X gets the chopped liver treatment

Yes, I think they were using the price as their benchmark. The Trend is the mid variant for the Eve but the Monty GLS is I believe their lowest variant. They should have compared it to the Monty GLS Premium instead since they are comparing mid-variants.

To me it's the right comparo.....GLS Premium equates to 4x2 Titanium both are TOTL. Trend and GLS and Fort G belongs to same segment though obvious kung cno ang angat🤓

I own an LTZ trailblazer (the older version of the engine) and while the power is really sweet and it's got massive low end torque, I stopped enjoying it a long long time ago due to the crappy plastic interior and engine noise. But it's tough as nails..... I have to give it that.

When you are stuck in traffic for as long as I am, you begin to appreciate refinement . Quietness and a bit of luxury trimmings and toys go a long way to easing the painful ride. Diesel clatter gets really annoying after awhile. Most people won't be able to put their finger on it but it really adds to driver and passenger fatigue.

+1 on the NVH of the eve. the everest is even more quiet than the sorento. the noise cancellation technology really is a big plus.

Wala naman ako paki kung maingay sa labas. Basta sa loob tahimik. Yun nga horn ng everest akala ko mahina pero try ko one time open ang window malakas pala.
