Floods or no floods, I'd MUCH rather have the CRV than the Montero.
I live in an area infamous for being almost like a lake when it pours yet I didn't bother getting an SUV (at least yet).
BTW, where do you stay that wading high water is a top priority?
Also, Everest and Terra > Montero in ground clearance.
We had the same dilemma last year. We were choosing between a PPV and the CRV.
We ultimately decided to get a CRV because it's so much more comfortable than any of the PPVs. The CRV even has better ride quality than midsize sedans (we were also contemplating on a Honda Accord). It also has much better handling because it's based on the Civic compared to the PPVs which are pickup-based. Additionally, the diesel CRV which you're eyeing has better fuel efficiency than any of the PPVs as well.
I understand that your concern is flood-fording. The CRV can take about 500mm of floods so it's not so bad. But the best approach (yes, even for PPV owners) is to avoid floods altogether. Even if your SUV can survive a flood, crossing flooded waters regularly can bring long-term damage to your suspension and other internals.

Murphy's law dictates that sh!t happens when you least expect it and at the most inconvenient place.
So if there is no shift lever, how does one shift from P to N with a DEAD BATTERY?
Very nice talaga un crv basta wag mo lang titignan un 3rd row. Pilit na pilit. Pang below 4ft lang ata un

Sanay ka yata bro sa ladder frame SUVs na mataas ang floor because of the chassis.
It depends on what you're after. The higher stance of ladder frames vs the clever packaging of CUVs which have comparable (if not bigger) 1st and 2nd row passenger space than ladder frame SUVs.
Most CUVs pare pareho naman ng ride height. The CRV lang has a bigger bumper kaya mukhang mas mababa but actual ground clearance is the same.
CRV - 200mm, CX-5 - 190mm, RAV4 - 160mm, Forester - 225mm.
Iba iba tayo I guess ng tolerance for what counts as an SUV. Like for me compact CUVs and the XV are SUVs. While low subcompacts like the CX3 and Kona are just slightly raised hatchbacks.

an industry writer says that the definition of CUV is even more nebulous than the definition of SUV.
his bottomline is, "it is a CUV because i-or-the-manufacturer say it is".
my personal thoughts are, "never mind how the vehicle is labeled. what is more important is, do i like it? ".
True. You have to slide the second row far forward just to have barely liveable legroom for the third row. Not good for long trips, but for anything under 2 hours on the road, should be bearable for the average pinoy.
I used to think I'll never need the 3rd row, but just recently I needed to bring 7 passengers in total. No choice yung dalawa but to sit in the cargo area. If I had the diesel, they would at least have had real seats to sit on. [emoji23]

The choice between a compact utility vehicle (CUV) against a midsize utility vehicle (Explorer, Pilot, CX9) or a midsize pickup platform vehicle (PPV) is entirely a personal thing. I prefer the CUV over the other two as they are sportier to drive, more like a big compact car, better handling and response over a PPV or midsize utility vehicle.
If space is a key requirement and budget is not a problem, I would surely get a full-size utility vehicle. An Expedition or Suburban or Land Cruiser offers big interior space and lots of features.

The reason why they are pushing for the Bronco stateside nun malaman nila gamit ang chassis ng Everest
Madali kasi magluma croosovers sa america, lalo nasa sa suspension kasi ang tataba kakakain ng mash potato and rich foods, So even if better highways, bigay naman kagad suspension, pat mga anak nila dun ang lalaki. Avg 180 pounds,
